what are you talking about? he hasn't just posted a list of 100 games that he feels have the same weighting, he has ranked them from 1 to 100, thus he has a "top 5" in that list.

IMO, making a top 100 is a better way of judging what games you truly like, as most people will just rattle off the first 5 games they have fond memories of. If you actually sit down and list out 100 games you've played you'll probably find your top 5 will look a lot different once you've ranked them.

    Anyway, my top 5 are:

    1 UFO: Enemy Unknown PC
    2 Half life 2 PC
    3 FFVII PS
    4 Flatout 2 PC
    5 Worms PC

from my top 100 list ;)

There's too many games that I've enjoyed (and a fair few I still hate with a passion, many years later). But to name the 5 that I can think of first, that I have fond memories of they would be:

    5. Carpet Capers. It may be ancient, but it was one of the most fun games ever.
    4. Goldeneye. Even though I loved the singleplayer part, it was the multiplayer that really puts it on this list.
    3. UFO Enemy Unknown. It's still a great game.
    2. Doom. Me and my dad used to play this religiously.
    1. Ultima 7. Best RPG ever (IMO)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,455 ✭✭✭weemcd

#1 Final Fantasy X - simply because I hadn't played anything like it before or since, engrossing storyline, excellent battle system, tonnes of secrets, brilliant characters you actually cared about, dynamic cut scenes (for anyone who hasn't played:
hearing Seymour had killed the entire race of Ronso (X2 may have went back on this, but I never had much time for it) at the top of the mountain, and that hugely difficult boss battle got me really fired up, I really just felt like he had to be stopped. Upon beating Yunalesca finding out Aauron was actually dead, made perfect sense but it was just so moving, Tidus unable to touch Yuna as he vapourised, the complete awesomeness of Bahamut, Tidus and Yuna in Macalania Lake
    ) I could go on.

#2 Gta 3 Ps2 - Bit of a cliche, but as a teenager circa 14 Gta was unbelievable, I couldn't get over this massive sprawling environment in front of me, the gangs, missions, characters where ultimately cool, never mind being fascinated by finding things like hidden packages.

#3 Oblivion - The expansive world and absolute freedom, mixed with the opening feeling of, "what the hell do I do now?", upon leaving the first dungeon, make Oblivion a very memorable experience for me. Interesting and varied missions, all the guilds with their own characters and rituals, paired with breathtaking scenery put Oblivion at my number 3.

#4 Mario Kart 64 - A revelation when one of the lads in our house brought the aul 64 up and put this beauty on, goldeneye was paraded around for a while, but was eventually left by the wayside for the most fun 4 player I've ever played.

#5 COD 4 (PS3)- the only game of the current generation I have in my top 5, singleplayer campaign that raised the bar on every other console fps, really was a breath of fresh hour after so many years of generic sequels. Once the singleplayer campaign was done with, splitscreen multiplayer was played for days on end, leading to some thrilling ties, arguments, constant allegations of "screen looking" and hissyfits. Finally the online mode was the last to be tried, and also proved the most enjoyable, even when 4/5 of us in a room just took turns to play online

cant really think of a worst 5 atm.

    2. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty 'Messing around with the guards'

    4. Halo 2 'Ripping it around in a warthog'

    5. Gears Of War 'I'm in the zone baby!'

Any of the other series games were amazing too, But these would be the best of of their series.

I know its all opinion and everything, and It may have had a crap ending section, but Crysis is a new benchmark for sandbox FPS gaming. No fps out there offers you the freedom it does. It certainly doesnt deserve to be on a worst games ever list.

if tman is ranking them from an expectation to fulfillment/disappointment point of view then yes, Crysis would be the worst. Crysis to many is first a benchmarking tool and second a poorly made game.

    Exactly.
In fact, I got more enjoyment out of DoA Xtreme 2, so should have really switched their places on the list.
I just plain didn't like it, then they introduced the aliens and it really went down the toilet...
