Cairns - easy choice. More to do. Brisbane isnt that great - No beaches.

spent 5 weeks on the Gold coast 30 mins south of Bris. last year.

Excellent, but i feel no matter where you go in Oz you will have a fanatastic time, we did.

    Enjoy.

definitely Cairns!! It's so beautiful up there and you can go up to cape trib and port douglas too! night life isnt bad, Brisbane would be a lot better (famiyl club-brill btw!) but, if you;re gonna be in Sydney anyway the nightlife wil be great there too!

so definitely Cairns, tropical rainforests, great barrier reef! oooooooo i miss oz!!!!

    IMHO, Brisbane is better.
No beaches in the town (except a man made one in South Bank). But the scenery is amazing. Potential places to visit are Glasshouse mountains, Steve Irwin Zoo, Rainbow beach, Fraiser island… and the list goes on. Just rent a car (they are cheap) are drive yourself, or there is lots of tours you can join.

you should see the great barrier reef. if you did a diving course and then headed up to port douglas you could easily spend the time there.port is a good party town and the beachs are great . i lived up there for 3 years and its an amazing place. but on the other hand you got frasier island and byron bay near bris-vegas which are also not to be missed. so its going to be a tough one . heres something that might help you pick.this time of year the weather is getting cold down south and its perfect up north.
