Since your diet looks pretty low carb (assuming the vegetables are not potatoes), you can expect to lose a lot of water weight at the start. After that, weight loss of 1-2lb a week is normal. You can lose more if you are very obese, but for a normally overweight person, more than 2lb a week normally means you are losing muscle as well.

Personally, I think you need more fat in your diet. You don't have much carbs, so you need fat to supply the energy you need for living and working out. If you eat mostly protein, you are teaching your body to use protein as running fuel, and in a calorie defecit, this is a great way to lose muscle.

Six scoops of whey a day are too much. You'll have incredibly smelly farts, and you'd be better with real food.

What does all that add up to? What are your calories, grams of protein, fat and carbs? What are your workouts like?

    +1

Its impossible to tell how fast somebody would loose weight on that diet. In fact it might also be possible for somebody to gain weight on the above diet without knowing portion size, sex, age and activity levels.

Perhaps you should include nuts/tuna/cottage/chicken as snacks instead of one or two shakes?

Also if you're training I'd recommend that you have some carbs post workout. These will help you recover quicker and assist in your progress.

OP essentially you are doing the keto diet I am currently doing it and noticing fantastic results, muscle gain with fat loss.

But in order for you to preserve your muscle you need lots more fat as during ketosis your body is running primarily on fat.

If your having trouble trying to consume enough fat try throwing in a few table spoons of olive oil into your diet and get high fat cheese in there

OP just some more ideas on how to incoperate more fat in your diet

bacon, burgers, steak, ham, whole eggs, chicken, sausages, olives, full-fat cheese

Its not too bad a diet actually

    Wikipedia:
Around 2000, Atkins started to develop a heart condition, cardiomyopathy, which he claimed was unrelated to his diet. On April 18, 2002, Atkins suffered a cardiac arrest caused by an infection that spread to his heart muscle. At the time, Clyde Yancy, a cardiologist and member of the board of directors of the American Heart Association, was quoted as saying, "Despite the obvious irony, I believe there is a total disconnect between the cardiac arrest and the health approach he (Atkins) popularizes."[1]

On April 8, 2003, Atkins slipped on ice and fell in front of his medical office in New York City and sustained major head injuries that put him in a coma. News of this quickly turned into rumors that Atkins had a heart attack while he was on his own diet. He never recovered from his injuries, and subsequently died on April 17 of kidney failure.

    not much.
    Too little carbs in there.
Carbs are needed for energy, without them the protein you are consuming will be used for energy.

OP are you doing any exercise or are you just trying to eat healthy?

i dont agree with dieting really, eating healthy, burning more calories per day than you consume and speeding up your metabolism through weight training and interval training is the way to go.

Excellent diet if done right. Too many people have never read a single book by Atkins but are still able to tell you why it's a heart attack on a plate. It's an ideal diet for anyone who has a reasonable amount of discipline and doesn't exercise very intensely.

A year long study at the Stanford University School of Medicine Prevention Research Centre took a group of 311 overweight middle-aged women and put them on of four different diets.

All the women were given a brief counselling session and sent off with a book about their diets, to try to reflect real life conditions. All the women ate similar amounts of calories and their health was monitored during the study.

At the end of a year, the group on the Atkins diet had lost the most weight, an average of 10.4lb, compared with the 5.7lb in the LEARN group. Ornish dieters lost 4.8lb and the Zone dieters lost only 3.5lb.

The Atkins group also showed the biggest decrease in blood pressure, triglycerides, cholesterol and bodyfat.

    Good post.

It's been a while since I read the Atkins book, but I do remember laughing my way thru it in parts because the actual diet is nothing like what most people claim it to be.

I'd have to check on the specifics to be sure, but from memeory the "extreme" induction phase, the one with only 20g of carbs per day, is only really use in the short term (2-8 weeks).

On going weightloss is where you begin to reintroduce carbs, which should primarily come from vegtables.

Pre-maintenance is the time when you establish the amount of carbs you can afford to eat without gaining weight.

And life time maintenance is where you tie it all together.

The goal is to have most of your carbs coming from leafy greens and other natural non-processed or refined carb sources.

When you strip away all the bullsh!t that the media associates with Atkins, at it's core it's a very good way of eating in the long term.

In the first, very strict induction phase, you are expected to keep below 20g of net carbs a day. That's total carbs minus fibre. That's the equivelent of around 15 bowls of McDonald's salads a day. And you increase from there.
