    I GOT A toshiba 5105 winxp laptop.I notice the lowest res on it is 800x600,is it safe to use this res to watch dvds or play games on a standard tv SDTV,i dont wanna damage the tv tube .Is it ok to use laptop screen at that resolution for an hour ,maybe once a week ,laptop 6years old.Do they release new drivers for laptop cards ,its a GEOFORCE 440 GO ,graphics card.
    ANY recommendations for programs to set custom resolution ,ie 720x576.

    Thanks for the retro rush: the MX 440 was my first GPU purchase ever :}

    Dont see why your TV should get damaged. I mean, try watching RTE on the aerial: if anything that will **** it up.

    programs with custom res: try running them in a window.
    In the application shortcut go to its target path and just after the "\program.exe" add: -window

    eg. \program.exe -window

    downloaded powerstrip, intregrates with display propertys,to make up your own resolution, so i now can watch dvds on an old skool crt tv from my laptop,
    set res to sdtv ,720 x576. standard pal tv .resolution, it works great.
    took me about 8mins to go thru all the setttings necessary ro set the res,and turn on tv out ,to pal tv b.
