Boston Hotels

Heading to Boston with my mate for a week in August. I am absolutely stunned by the prices of hotels over there. Any sort of half decent hotel is around $300 a night which I refuse to pay. The Omni Parker is looking for $280 a night, and I've stayed there....the rooms are absolute kips.

Anybody have any tips for decent value hotels in Boston?

Jurys Hotel Boston....one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in EVER...should be cheap enough too...

Jury's is not cheap at all!!! I was probably most shocked at that....but if it's as nice as you say, then the price is probably reflecting that. A serious shortage of hotels in Boston it seems has made the prices for accomodation very expensive. Must be one of the most expensive cities to stay in America.

Yea it probably is an expensive spot, and it is a very touristy city and August would be peak season so I am not surprised prices are expensive.

Have a you looked at any hotels in Cambridge, just over the river and on teh subway line to downtown Boston ?.

Are you planning to hire a car when you go over?

I was there last July and stayed at the Hilton Boston Dedham hotel. It was a very nice hotel and was quite cheap as it's in the suburbs.

It also has a commuter train station right next to it, so you can get a train right into the centre of Boston it you don't have a car.

A similar option would be the Motel 6 in Braintree.
It is right beside the red line subway into Boston, has a retail park (best buy, borders books, sports authorty) a few yards away and has a few resutuarnts and bars near by.

Hey have you checked out hotels.com they allow you to only select hotels within your price range and you can select many areas around Boston.
The transport in Boston is very good so if you can only afford to stay outside the city centre I wouldn't worry about getting around. Cambridge is a great area and its a short walk into the city centre.

Wasn't too bad when I stayed there but that was about 3 years ago and it had just opened... savage hotel though, marble bathrooms, paper in the morning and quite possibly the most comfortable bed I think I have ever slept in. Location is bang on too.

It really depends on what your find expensive. August is peak season everywhere so you should be looking at paying probably €100 - 120 per person, per night for a twin room which isn't bad at all.
