Attitudes towards L plates

I've only noticed this myself in the past few months since my Wife got a car and had to put her L plates up. When I drive her car there is a significant change in attitudes of other drivers towards me. Cars right up my ass, rudeness, lack of courtesy etc. All of this while I'm driving normally. It's not like I'm going too slow or driving erratically. I've even noticed the same cars behind me when I'm in my own car and then in my wife's and the attitude is different. Is there a lack of respect and patience in this country for Learner drivers? Do other drivers just assume once they see the L plate that the driving is going to be poor or slow so want to get past them as quick as possible?

Common courtesy is a rarity on Irish roads, especially Dublin city!

true, but there's even less of it when driving a car with L plates

I'm teaching someone to drive at the moment; now and again I take the wheel. If anything I've found people are more courteous.

I guess everyone's experience will be different.

Learner drivers are too forgiving of arrogant twits driving up our asses, blowing horns because we took more than 2 milliseconds to get away from lights or because we won't run red lights or yellow boxes. If a few more of us drove even slower when those things happened, you real drivers would back off :D

Yesterday someone behind me blew their horn at the car in front of me because they were too slow getting away. I was so surprised it caused me to conk out so the impatient fool got held up anyway :)
