Meeting people

Well im single again after 2 years. And seeing as shes moved on to someone else I reckon I need to do likewise. However I don't much care for the pub/club way of meeting people, and would like to meet people in a more relaxed environment. I was thinking of maybe something like doing an evening course or something for a laugh. Anyone meet someone like this? Any suggestions?

Do you like sports? Evening courses may not be so easy unless there are coffee breaks or people hang around after.

    Bingo :D

Naa really , I was in the same boat about a year or so ago. I worked in a building with loads of people and met one or two there ;) . I find when you plan looking to meet someone it hardly ever works! Randomness FTW

I think an evening course would be a rubbish way of meeting people. Most people tend to be stressed out after rushing there from work and just want to get it over with before rushing straight home again leaving little time to chat.

:) Snap on my own too! Have tried courses, photography, health & safety, Salsa courses ....

Been there got the t-shirt! Have me some nice people but they are usually attached! Looking for ideas myself some if you come up with anymore let me know.

Good luck. Hey I am always up for a chat:D

T'ain't easy. Also feel under pressure myself to meet someone now that ex has announced a new acquistion for herself in another town!:)

My issue is that when I am in the pub/club I can't hear people or have a conversation coherent enough to find out what a person is like personality wise.

On the other hand if bumping into people via sports/night classes... people are stone cold sober and are racked by inhibitions (myself included) and the chances of romance are slim. People might fancy each other quietly but that is as far as it goes.

We Irish need a little alcohol lubricant to get us in that 'mode'.

So will it be tag rugby or wine classes???? I think wine classes first feeling a bit unfit for tag rugby. From what ive seen only the beautiful ones do that.:o

So where can I go Wine tasting?? I am based in waterford. Anyone else up for wine tasting. Sounds like fun. I used to go to a place in London when I lived there and it was great fun.:p

Hey drop me a line if anyone is up for it in Waterford:)

They appear to do one out in WIT.

Also I saw a sign out on the ORR for a speed dating crowd if that would be something you'd be interested in.

I wouldnt think so its an Adult Learning night class as far as I know so i'd reckon that everyone would be around 25+ at least.

    I have a crazy idea....

Doing the tag rugby thing alright in work. Nothing sparking on our team but I understand there will be a social scene around after matches with other teams so we'll see.

Wine-tasting sounds cool. night class + booze. and the silly thing is I genuinely like wine! googling it now.

Have contacted the Wine Vault and they will send me information on next get together as soon as they confirm a date. They will be tasting spanish wines. Going to head a long myself. Will be a bit scary as will be on my own but should be fun. Have to brave and its always nice to meet people when you have wine glasses on lol :)

I will post the details as soon as I get them!

Why not just cut ti the chase and go online or speed dating?. A couple of friends met people that way. No stigma about these days, and at east you're meeting like-minded people.

Very little though, you should move as little as possible to conserve it.

Volunteering at festivals and other events is a most excellent way to meet loads of people. My favourite is the Dun Laoghaire World Cultures festival, always really good craic.

so many more things to get involved in Dublin....but I'm from Limerick...men are the opposite!!! It's a very clicky place..you gotta know someone first or a friend of a friend in a group before a decent fella will chat to you. Off course you still get the drunk horney guy in the bar or club but looking for a something more...
