    Hi,

    I'm a complete spaz with this stuff, but I thought here was probably the best place on the net to find an answer (flattery will get me everywhere?).

    Long story short, had a party at the weekend and there was karaoke involved. We set up a video recorder and we have perfect audio. Unfortunately the position of the camera was out of the light and the resulting video is very dark, to the point where we can see humanoid shapes but thats about it.

    Just wondering what would be the best/easiest program to enhance such video. We tried a free one on the web but it just meade everything really grainy.

    Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I have access to a library A/V department in a US university, so I can get hold of just about any software package (eventually anyway).

    You'll do well to get anything decent out of low light footage, the problem is it's trying to make the image out of nothing, which results in the grainyness. You could try FCP or AVID if you have access to it. As I say you'll struggle to make anything perfect though. Look out for Secondary color correction - it tends to be more advanced, which is a good thing.
