UPC offering time travel

I've noticed this a few times, up until recently they were offering Wrestlemania Live on April 1st. Now they are advetising "See Calzaghe V Hopkins Live on Setanta Sports 1, 19 April" and they still have "Safer Internet Day, 12 February.".

Perhaps instead of offering decent interactive or On-demand services, they felt time travel would be better. Well done UPC.

Yawn ---- Have you nothing better to do complain about such a simple matter ?

Double yawn - Stoneroses are you a UPC employee then?

Why should we tolerate crap service anyway? It's not exactly a difficult task to update a corporate website - not to do so is just sloppy.

And to slag off someone for pointing out an issue is really dumb, not smart, and certainly not clever.

I agree, it's precisely because it's a simple, trivial matter that makes it worse. I can tolerate people getting difficult things wrong, but when they can't even get simple things right that points to bigger problems deeper down in the organisation IMO.

I wouldn't call this an issue -- bit severe I should think. There are many other issues with UPC that are valid and worth sharing but I just thought that this was nit picking.

Doesn't make me Dumb, Not Smart or not Clever for that matter. Like the person who made the original post I am entitled to my say without personal insults on my intelligence -- thank you very much -- especially from a moderator.

The area in question is there to provide news. It shows all their news is old news. Are they doing anything to improve? If they can't update their website how are we supposed to believe they can do anything?

Well they've brought in the dvr in the last six month and a software update in the last week. Finally delivered triple play with their phone service, are in the process of recabling a large part of their network and their broadband is pretty good, not bad considering the mess they inherited from NTL.

And no I don't work for them.

Well, my original gripe was that you were happy to slag off a guy for pointing out some sloppy work on an NTL/UPC website. Looking back at your post history it seems that you're a bit of a fan when it comes to NTL/UPC. Good luck to you if you like UPC or are somehow employed by them, but let everyone else express their opinions, thanks.

Mysteriously and obviously coincidentally ( ) the home page has been updated today. Could UPC go a day without anything going wrong?

The last bit is particularly ironic, have you ever seen the reactions when someone either defends or compliments UPC? Freedom of expression it certainly isn't :p

The reaction to the incorrect information on the site was disproportionate to the 'crime'

Well, they've kept up the standard we are all used to. I was just about to enter their wonderful "High school musical 3" competition but unfortunately it closed 20/10/08, winners were picked 22/10/08 and winners were notified 24/10/08. Once again, they show they can't get simple things right.

UPC seem to take a pasteing here while Sky are lauded but they may not be getting a fair crack of the whip. We had Sky, full package 1 DVR+ I Standard box €82, UTV Phone & Broadband, 3 Mb No Cap + Free Calls Irl/UK €86 and Setanta Premium on both boxes. €26.99. A total monthly cost of €195 approx. I wanted 2 addition boxes. Sky quoted €99 + €50 installation per box + €15 each per month. Setanta quoted €5 per month for service to each additional box. A total cost of €235 per month + the €300 initial cost. Sky also required that I connect phone lines to the extra boxes meaning I would use up all the phone REN on their boxes. When I pointed this out to them they suggested I pay my phone provider to install equipment which would allow me additional REN. So I phoned UPC who offered 4 x 80 hour DVR+ boxes, Their Full TV Package with Disney thrown in, Setanta Premium in all rooms, 20 Mb No Cap Broadband and 2 Phone Lines with Free Calls 24/7 throughout Ireland + Free Phones for €180 per month + Installation €100. A difference of €660 per year. We switched to UPC and are quite happy we did. So far their Customer Services, Installers, Programmes, Reception, Broadband and Phone Service have been excellent.
