is it still a bbq if you have it inside?

i have a hugh kitchen and with a big fireplace, i had a few friend over for a bbq yesterday but it was a bit cold outside so i suggested we have it in the kitchen. gave it a shot anyway and it was a great success. all the smoke went up the chimney and plenty of food and drink and no wind! but, now im telling people about it and most say great idea but some are saying its not a bbq if its inside(its actually freak/hybrid food experemental method, of cooking)

Seriously bad idea. Fumes from bbq are very noxious and will have you knocked out and dead in a very short space of time. Big chimney or not, BBQ cooking for outdoors only. An up-and-over garage door makes a good sheild from the rain, if you have a mobile BBQ.

whereas it may not be the best of ideas, it still counts as a BBQ

Did you use a BBQ set for it? Otherwise NO.

Indoors aint a bbq, the bbq should always be outside, even in the rain :D

Ya to be honest it has more in common with a campfire than a BBQ. and I agree with Cathooo - outdoors all the way.

Of course its a good idea. Just get rid of all the smoke alarms in your house and enjoy the food with a few beers.

Well, you can buy indoor bbq grills, so maybe it can be called a bbq.

A bbq is only a bbq if using proper coals and lighter fuel for the full carcenogenic effect! You need the proper smoky taste.

Not to mention the unmistakeable aroma of burning flammable liquids.

Ok, can nobody else see the fundamental mistake with this?

    Outdoor cooking = men

    indoor cooking = wimmins

So why are we even discussing this?

No good can come from Brothers meddlin' with indoor cooking on fiery charcoals.

Not only is it dangerous to life & limb, and quite possibly illegal, think of the risk to the meat

    Locked. For your own safety.
