Alan will you stop. He's hardly 'far far far far' superior to Nani.

Nani will be better than Cole, when he reaches Coles age.

Players cannot be judged on stats alone, a quick glimpse of assist and scoring charts can tell you that Tauren. A lot of players with better scoring and assist rates than these two lads-but not better players. Cole is a far far far far superior player to Nani.

    Nani:6 assists and 3 goals.
    Cole:6 assists and 7 goals.

    according to PL.com

Those stats are wrong Alan, the stats always to go with are fantasy football stats,

Nani 3 goals and 9 assists
Cole 6 goals and 7 assists

Cole is a better player than Nani. That said, Cole has been pretty **** this year, including when Mourinho was there.
How do you know this? Nani got those stats with 1500 minutes of game time, while Cole got them with 2400.

Indeed Kalou has been better than both of them this season, 7 goals and 11 assists, and he's only played 2000 minutes.

Id take Essien too. Him and cesc in midfield would be the best in the world IMO.

The stats i used were taking from the premierleague.com stats section, if they are wrong, my apologies.

    Sizzler-nice input.

I rate Cole as a far better player than Nani and think he'd be well suited to Utds style of play, I think he would be a better player playing for Utd than for Chelsea. Nani may well develop into anther Ronaldo, chances are that he wont though. therefore if i was a Utd fan, i'd like Cole to come in, get rid of giggs and have Cole and Nani as my left side.

Cole > Nani for me too

    only one mention of Lampard?

I'd have him first and foremost, granted he's had a terrible season injury wise, considering he's appeared nearly half as often this season as he has in other seasons whilst still scoring 10 league goals with 9 in other competitions. And he's surely gonna net more before the season closes.

Right now, and in terms of overall contribution, I'd agree with you.

However, I think Nani certainly has the potential to be better than Cole.

    Essien without a doubt.

Then I'd sign Terry and play him in the reserves all the time for the laugh.

    Essien.

Most complete player in the world imo, and is definitely in the top 3 players in the world.

    Essien and Drogba for Utd.

Also Nani is doing very well, nowhere near what Joe Cole is right now but I can see him doing much better with more games next season.

But the question was 'Who would you sign from Chelsea?' as in now, this summer. If United could sign Cole as a replacemnt for Giggs then he would be easily in the side ahead of Nani. 3 or 4 years time who knows but at this moment in time it's no contest.

Not really - cause Rooney plays out left (the position Cole would take) as much as through the middle. Ronnie likes playing out there too. Tevez can swap to play deep from the left. If we get a striker (number 1 priority imo) then Rooney would line up left side with Ronnie right side. No place for Cole.

I'd sign Drogba. Easy choice imo.

Giggs' replacement, if we sign one, will be a young player I reckon. Whoever sporting are debuting this season I suppose...:D

    Drogba and Essien

Heh i was actually just thinking about this the other day, Cech, Essien and Joe Cole and Arsenal would be sorted imo. Maybe Drogba too but lets not get greedy:)

Joe Cole and Didier Drogba for liverpool. a classy winger and a head the ball striker - exactly wat pool need.
id say Essien as well but we already have mascherano.
Carvalho would also fit into any team in the world

and Mr Alan - whos better: Joe Cole or Babel? will Babel become better then Cole? and if so with him - why not Nani ?

Joe Cole is far better than Babel.

Hence the reason I said I'd like to take Joe Cole to Anfield.

Plus I'd imagine playing with a winger like that would be beneficial for both Babel and Nani.

    Potential my left foot.
Nani is 3 years at least off of Joe Coles level even when he is playing as poorly as he is.
On his day he is one of the best players in the league.
The next person to say player A has the potential to be better than player B needs
to be banned for the sake of my sanity.
As my old manager says "when people tell you you have potential you should be
embarrased because you have done **** all to make people say you are good enough now!"

As a liverpool fan id have Carvallo and Drogba in a heartbeat.
Take both Coles too if they were going cheap :D

Can we please stop with the Manu/Liverpool thread course off dragging, before this whole forum becomes fubar'd?

I'd take Drogba and Essien for Manu, possibly Cech, though I'd prefer Foster to get a chance.

as a liverpool supporter id take:
    carvalho
    wright philips
    drogba
    malouda

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 481 ✭✭walshki

Not one person would take John Terry (other than to play him in the reserves). I think thats slightly tough - he's lippy and I don't particularly admire him as a human being but he's a quality defender (except in the last few months).

Anyway my top picks for Liverpool based on what we currently have at the club

    Joe Cole
    Drogba
    Wright Philips

Within that I'd have some reservations about Drogba as someone who I could see destabilising the dressing room but there's no doubting the quality. Essien is a truly top player but I wonder who he'd push out of the team (don't want Masch dropped) so I wouldn't break the bank for him.

True but Carvalho is better overall player than Terry.
Terry gets the plaudits because he is English.
Thats just my opinion but Carvalho is a much more complete player

I'd rate carvalho higher than terry as well.

although he just reminds me of a columbian druglord most of the time.

Then I'd take Essien instead of Fletcher.
I'd take Drogba to provide us that alternative up front.

do you mean that essien and drogba wouldnt be starters?

For United i would take Drogba and Malouda and Wright-Phillips

Drogba wouldn't be a starting against certain types of teams. He's not fluid enough compared to Rooney and Tevez. However in some games he'd be a defo starter, any European away game. At home though I think I'd rather Rooney and Tevez.

Essien would be a starter for most games, except when we want two creative central midfielders such as Carrick and Scholes or Anderson to break down total defence teams.

    It's all about options :)
