Judging by what is being said on alot of other football forums and chatrooms,
A lot of people including Chelsea fans are expecting a big summer clear out sale at Stamford Bridge .
So my Question . Who of the current Chelsea squad would you like to sign and why ?

If I could have anyone... anyone at all reagardless of how likely they'd be to come... Carvalho. Since I'm a Liverpool fan - normally, it'd be Joe Cole, but he does appear a bit too injury prone, otherwise he'd slot in on the left nicely for us.

    Joe Cole for me.

Malouda, or Joe cole or wright - philips

They would do well at Arsenal

Wayne Bridge and Steve Sidwell for Sunderland.

Essien and Carvalho Chelsea's two best players this year in my opinion.

Would have to be Essien and Drogba for me. As much as I dislike Drogba he would be immense in the current Utd team imo.

Essien by a country mile. Also, as a Newcastle fan, I wouldn't be too upset to see John Terry mentor young Taylor.

if being realistic then it would be wayne bridge for liverpool

As a United fan there are many players I would like to see at OT but in terms of what we need, Essien and Drogba are the only players United would need from Chelsea imo.

As a Chelsea fan first, I don't really know where the clearout rumours are coming from. As a Juve fan second Carvalho although I've got to say that all the non Liverpool fans are mad not to say Cech

    Ballack

nah - Nani will be as good as him, if not better.

Would go Drogba, then Essien myself. Drogba would be a brilliant signing for United, exactly what we need. Essien is the best combative midfielder in the world imo - would be great beside Anderson.

Great though Cech is - United don't need a keeper, so why would we go for him? best defensive record in the league, van der Sar has been brilliant this season and i have very high hopes for Foster.

either of their RB's that Essien plays in their position ahead of would do nicely at Villa (Belleti or Ferreira) where once Olaf leaves we wont have a RB (although hes more of a CB anyway).

Who would I take from Chelsea?

Cech obviously. He hasn't been better than VDS this year, but in the long run, he's gona give you 10 more years of top quality.
Carvalho instantly. IMO better than Vidic. Possibly even better than Ferdinaind.
Then I'd take Essien instead of Fletcher.
I'd take Drogba to provide us that alternative up front.
I'd take Ashley Cole, who I think if he played for us, would be better than Evra is. Currently he's worse, but that's because he's in a stupid system.
Kalou I think is a cracking prospect and wouldn't be too sad to have him on our books.

However, Chelsea will never sell to anybody they see as a threat. They sold Diarra to Arsenal cause they thought Arsenal weren't going to be a huge issue in the title race imo, how wrong they were :)

Why not - Nani is more effective as a player now then Joe Cole was at the same age. I see no reason to think Nani can't be a better winger then Cole is.

    Prem stats

    Nani - 3 goals and 8 assists
    Cole - 7 goals and 5 assists

Wow - Cole is clear far too good for Nani to ever compare to.

Lol i disagree with so much in this post i had to quote it!! aye, very dangerous as esteban said

    personally i would have
    Cech
    Essien
    Drogba
i would say Ballack but i feel he is too old now to be signing.

They dont have many players we need really but i wouldnt mind having those 3 on the books!

    United fan -
    Cech in a heart beat.
Carvalho but I don't think we need him. It'd be tough leaving one person on the bench from Vidic, Ferdinand and Carvalho. I wouldn't want Terry cause he's a...bad word.
Essien. Not sure how we'd set the midfield up though.
Drogba would be brilliant in the team I think but I wouldn't want him cause he's also a bad word. A much worse one than Terry.
The only one I think we need though is Cech

    Cech, Essien and Joe Cole

West Brom are soon to be in the Premiership and from Chelsea we would need Essien, Bridge, Cole, Carvalho, Drogba, Lampard, Terry, Ballack, Schevchenko, Cole, etc, etc.....

Basically we'd take almost any Chelsea players we could get our hands on!

90% of the time, Stats are bull**** every time.

Players cannot be judged on stats alone, a quick glimpse of assist and scoring charts can tell you that Tauren. A lot of players with better scoring and assist rates than these two lads-but not better players. Cole is a far far far far superior player to Nani.

    Nani:6 assists and 3 goals.
    Cole:6 assists and 7 goals.

    according to PL.com

Alan will you stop. He's hardly 'far far far far' superior to Nani.

Nani will be better than Cole, when he reaches Coles age.

Those stats are wrong Alan, the stats always to go with are fantasy football stats,

Nani 3 goals and 9 assists
Cole 6 goals and 7 assists

Cole is a better player than Nani. That said, Cole has been pretty **** this year, including when Mourinho was there.
How do you know this? Nani got those stats with 1500 minutes of game time, while Cole got them with 2400.

Indeed Kalou has been better than both of them this season, 7 goals and 11 assists, and he's only played 2000 minutes.

Id take Essien too. Him and cesc in midfield would be the best in the world IMO.

The stats i used were taking from the premierleague.com stats section, if they are wrong, my apologies.

    Sizzler-nice input.

I rate Cole as a far better player than Nani and think he'd be well suited to Utds style of play, I think he would be a better player playing for Utd than for Chelsea. Nani may well develop into anther Ronaldo, chances are that he wont though. therefore if i was a Utd fan, i'd like Cole to come in, get rid of giggs and have Cole and Nani as my left side.

Cole > Nani for me too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,455 ✭✭✭weemcd

    only one mention of Lampard?

I'd have him first and foremost, granted he's had a terrible season injury wise, considering he's appeared nearly half as often this season as he has in other seasons whilst still scoring 10 league goals with 9 in other competitions. And he's surely gonna net more before the season closes.

Right now, and in terms of overall contribution, I'd agree with you.

However, I think Nani certainly has the potential to be better than Cole.

    Essien without a doubt.

Then I'd sign Terry and play him in the reserves all the time for the laugh.

    Essien.

Most complete player in the world imo, and is definitely in the top 3 players in the world.

    Essien and Drogba for Utd.

Also Nani is doing very well, nowhere near what Joe Cole is right now but I can see him doing much better with more games next season.

But the question was 'Who would you sign from Chelsea?' as in now, this summer. If United could sign Cole as a replacemnt for Giggs then he would be easily in the side ahead of Nani. 3 or 4 years time who knows but at this moment in time it's no contest.

Not really - cause Rooney plays out left (the position Cole would take) as much as through the middle. Ronnie likes playing out there too. Tevez can swap to play deep from the left. If we get a striker (number 1 priority imo) then Rooney would line up left side with Ronnie right side. No place for Cole.

I'd sign Drogba. Easy choice imo.

Giggs' replacement, if we sign one, will be a young player I reckon. Whoever sporting are debuting this season I suppose...:D

    Ricardo Carvalho. <o>

    Drogba and Essien

Heh i was actually just thinking about this the other day, Cech, Essien and Joe Cole and Arsenal would be sorted imo. Maybe Drogba too but lets not get greedy:)

Joe Cole and Didier Drogba for liverpool. a classy winger and a head the ball striker - exactly wat pool need.
id say Essien as well but we already have mascherano.
Carvalho would also fit into any team in the world

and Mr Alan - whos better: Joe Cole or Babel? will Babel become better then Cole? and if so with him - why not Nani ?
