Repair in Dublin City Centre?

    Hi Guys,
Apologies if this comes up a lot, but there wasn't a sticky about it.

Cycling into work today I got a puncture, so I can't really put off getting my bike fixed any longer (also need brake pads replaced and a slight buckle worked out of both wheels).

Can anyone recommend somewhere reliable somewhere between Dublin 2 and Glasnevin?

The bike itself is nothing fancy, but I'd like it fixed cheaply enough so I can get back to commuting without Dublin Bus having a say in it ;)

you have cycleways in parnell street. They are alright, i bring my bike just to tune the wheels, i fix the rest.
You have another shop in dorset street, they would probably have cheaper prices, though i don't know about their job. And i think that there is another shop in DCU, just check it out.

On Patrick St, beside Christchurch there is a bike shop. PK Cycles I thinks its called or something similar.
There's one on Wexford St too a few doors up from whelans, dunno what its called.

No bike shop in DCU. There's one in UCD alright.

Closest to DCU that I know of is in the Omni and one in Phibsborough. Have't used either so no idea if they are any good

Where in phibsboro, i have never seen one there and I live in the area.

I'd heard the one in phibsborough's not bad, but I'll probably just drop it into Cycleways to save myself walking to Phibsborough with it.
I abandoned it on Merrion Square after the tire went flat, so not looking forward to the walk home after work, anything to make it shorter :)

Thanks for the help guys. First the free LUAS vests, now this, yay Cycling forum :D

Square Wheel in Temple Bar are great for repairs and stuff, there's also the Omni Centre in Santry -mate of mine's GF got her bike from there, and had some repairs done without any hassle.

I'd definitely recommend Square Wheel for what you need though

might do that instead, then. It's slightly closer too :)

Can recommend Humphries Cycles on McKee Road. ( Just off Glasnevin Ave)

Very thorough...were able to fix a problem that a well known city center bike shop were not able to fix.

Is that place still open? I've never succeeded in finding it. Is it in a basement or something?

I think it's the place (yes, in the basement) just beside Temple Bar Music Centre (/button factory?)

Yep, it can be a bit tricky, as it's basically a doorway with stairs/ramp down... it is there though!

I remember walking up and down that little street about 5 times (I nearly got dizzy) looking for it but couldn't find it. It was a saturday afternoon though, may not have been open. Is there no sign on the doorway?

I don't think there is a sign on the door, but I can never remember -it's always been a bit mystical to my mind :)

Incidentally, anyone got an idea of the opening times there?

    Square Wheels rocks!

That one in Phibsborough closed donkeys years ago. Think it's a hair salon now (not a leg hair salon!... see other thread).

+1 on squarewheels, think that's the closest one to Merrion square. Hope you've the bike well locked there! Also, if you have quick release bits lock them separately. And also... if your punctured wheel is quick release you could remove it (assuming some lowlife hasn't done so already touch wood) and bring it down to the shop. Much easier than pushing a punctured bike through town.

can't say about it being open - I'd guess it's open on Tuesday. They fix anyone's bikes afaik. There's another bikeshop Ferris Wheels in Booterstown if that's any help to you.

    Hi Guys,

I've a slight buckle in my back wheel which I need repaired.

Any idea how much it would cost to have repaired and where's a good place in the clondalkin / tallaght area?

Thanks for any help / advice you can give.

Wheelworx in the Mill shoppping centre.

Depends on the damage to the wheel. If its just a case of spoke tightening - not too much. If there is damage to the rim - a bit more.
