Yeah, Picked up some good deals from lidl last year. Pegaso 5mm wetsuit and boots for about 70.00EUR I think. Doesn't get much use over here but has been away to Egypt once or twice and cant complain, at that price who could...

I see lidl are doing diving gear. Anyone bought from them before. What’s the quality like?

The wetsuits, boots, gloves and straps are fine and cant be beaten on price really. I dont think I'd chance a mask or fins as the all look quite flimsy and purely for starter snorkelers really. I bought a pair of so called " dive watches" good for 50M/4ata which checked out when I wore one to a swimming pool. So avoid those.

I bought one of the masks last year to replace my old one which was getting a bit chewed. I figured it was cheap enough that even if it was cr@p it'd not be a big deal. It's actually fairly decent quality, and pretty comfortable.

Also the cameras are great! for €6.99 you can't go wrong. They're re-usable, and have tested them to about 30m without damage. Unfortunately below about 20m the buttons stick in because of the pressure. I'm currently looking to mod one with a stronger spring......:pac:

Thinking of getting one of these but I am a complete novice to wetsuits.Would the 5mm suit be more suited to Irish sea tempertures for sea kayaking

Yeah 5mm might get a bit cool over here alright but I have seen people wearing them without complaint. Usually in the summer months mind. For diving irish waters I'd normally have a 5mm with a hood and another 5-6mm shortie worn over that.
So for the price in Lidl you cant really go wrong with the 5mm as you can always buy a short suit to fit over it if necessary. They get up and walk out the door themselves in Lidl so you'd wanna get in quick if you're picking one up.

was queing in front of lidl from 7.30 this morning
there was no1 there till 7.55 and then sudenly another 10 people showed up behind me.
    got in first of course.

    bought that 3 piece 7+5mm+hood, bought a 3mm shorty,fins,mask(25 euro one),knife,camera,another hood,boots,dry bag.
spend all together around 250 euro.

this is a first time I bought any of the gear in lidl.
usually buy everything in germany or italy.

    anyway,
went home, tried everything, wetsuits fit me perfectly(both of them),preety happy with the quality of mask and fins.
Boots are the only thing that look a little bit dodgy.

i think its real value for money.

What size is the bag? Would you fit the wetsuit in it?

Is there straps for holding it?

    Thanks

Was in the Lidl Rathfarnham this morning myself. Not may people there for 8, about 5 in total. Two guys went straight for the sea scooters. I picked up 3 piece wet suit, camera, boots, dry bag, mask and snorkel. I haven’t had a chance to try on the wetsuit or look at anything else. From the pick on the dry bag looks like it would fit mask, snorkel and a few small bits. Ill let you know for sure when I open it up later.

Went to Lidl in Walkinstown (Greenhills Rd), and was the only one there at 8am. I was slightly surprised, and there was plenty of everything. Two others showed up about 8.10am, but it was very quiet.

Picked up Dry bag, snorkel, mask (the €19.99 - not the aluminium one) and booties. I'm pleasantly surprised regarding the quality of the gear. The mask feels very sturdy, and the snorkel is decent too, even with a little whistle on it to attract attention :D The cheaper mask has a bigger field of vision, and feels almost better than the aluminium one.

The dry bag is pretty big - but I think a wetsuit would be a tight squeeze. The booties are also fine, they feel good and are zip-up with a fin strap holder at the back. Unfortunately I'd say mine are a touch small, so I might go up this evening and see if they have an 11 left.

All in all, well worth it.

the dry bag is preety small.
you can fit your mask and snorkel, and maybe a towel.

you were right that cheaper mask has a larger field of vision but the aluminium one fits my face perfectly.

for all of you's outthere who didnt go to lidls yet you better hurry up cause these are real bargains.

and to repeat myself about booties.
dont know why but they just seem like they not gona last long.

Absolutely. Went in to get a spare mask and snorkel and some bits. Came out with the boots, a decent mask, a snorlek thats better than the scuba pro one I have and a pair of fins. Have to say I was surprised by the quality of this gear. The fins are sturdy and well designed. The heel srtaps are a bit crap and feel sorta plastic but sure they can always be changed. All in all well worth popping in.
