Looking for a microphone for our lead singer. We practice in a garage situation so all the equipment would be close together. We have the opportunity to get either a sennheiser e845 or a shure beta 58a at good prices so could someone help and say which is better??

58, would not bother with the beta version if its just for practicing in a garage.

Forget the Beta, get an SM58.

From an engineering standpoint, I would generally much prefer a Beta 57/58A to an E845. The Beta 58 also sounds nicer than a regular 58 but is a bit more inclined to feedback in my experience, so if you get one you might have to take a little more care over positioning it with respect to your foldback source and the room surfaces. The senn evolution series vocal mics always seem a bit nasal to me.
