Fairly decent cop caper about corruption, though stretching credibility to fair extent. Keanu Reeves is competent though, normally can't stand him, so even being able to watch the movie without thinking about how much I despise him stacks in his favor. Forest Whitaker is brilliant, and an equally solid support cast props up the movie a lot. Chris Evans, Jay Mohr, Hugh Laurie, Terry Crewes, etc.

Any opinions....any Reeves lovers out there? :D

One strange thing though; why does the poster for Street Kings look strikingly similar to 'The Club' game from Sega?

Planning on seeing it during the week. I quite like the cast and even enjoy Reeves, the man may lack any emotional depth in his acting but he has been in some damn fine films. Jay Mohr is always good, and everyone should check out his short lived but brilliant TV show "Action" from a few years back.

    big meh from me.

Keanu Reeves was f*cking hilarious in it because his acting is even worse then usual, he has some priceless lines in ("We use to be Brothers!")

plotwise its all very predictable, forest whittaker is chewing the scenery throughout (esp in the last scene) and hugh laurie is blatantly there to play *house* and is for the most part a wasted role throughout the film. Its all very hohum as its the same sh*t that got shovelled by the same director twice already with training day and harsh times. Some nice gun fights though, nice gorey bullet wounds etc, if thats your thing.

But aside from the film itself, its worth a rent at least when it hits dvds purely for keanu reeves inability to play the role, get alot of beer or weed or something sit down with a few mates and p*ss yourself laughing as he fumbles through every scene with some awful lines and a really really poor attempt at looking like a alcoholic by knocking back vodka bottles in every second scene and beer bottles in every one between.

IF you think the Club has a similar poster, look up Condemmed 2 and check out the main character.

    Its also by Sega.

brutal dialoge ruined this film, any attempts at "tough guy" quasi racial remarks were horribly delivered by reeves, the kind of dialoge good leading actors like whalberg, di caprio, washington & co. would deliver with a sense of true grit.

mildy entertaining and even though I like slow paced films there just wasnt enough entertainment in this film for me.

I really enjoyed it. I'm a big fan of David Ayers movies and scripts. Nobody does the seedy side of LA street life like him.

Thought it was quite good myself.
It was fairly predictable though .
Good action scenes, good score and well directed.
A nice change from the diluted garbage posing as thrillers nowadays.

    Forest Whitaker is brilliant

Don't let 'Street Kings' make you think he was brilliant.

Go watch "The Last King of Scotland"

    He's absolutely incredible in it.

As for the film, didn't like it haven't seen it in ages so bear with me if I'm wrong - lighting was poor in some places, shakey camera work and i just couldn't get Reeves, thought he was terrible. IMO

Odd that this was just bumped..

Was sent the Blu-ray by Moviestar - should have arrived today. Haven't great expectations for it to be honest.
