Hi all, I am getting a few spots on my neck / jawline that seem to be hormone related. Can you advise on anything that might help this? (evening primrose capsules maybe)

    thansk creme egg

Are you male or female? If you're female there are certain forms of the pill you can go on that can help... I think Yasmin is one..

I am female, but don't want to go back on the pill (have been off it for nearly three years now)

Don't blame you, it's not for me either, if they're really bad the doctor will prescribe antibiotics, I had pretty bad skin as a teenager, tried everything and I got a prescription for Minisin (sp) and they worked a treat, perfect skin within about 4 months.. Only side effects were heart burn but it was worth it tbh..

    Thanks for that Xzanti.

The only thing about getting a treatment from the doc is they will come back as soon as the course is over, as they are hormonal. Was hoping to get a more holistic / natural remedy.

I had terrible skin as a teenager too (and into my early 20's) was on Roaccutane. All that has gone now, but am just left with spots every cycle, and they seem to take an age to go too : (

If you think it's hormone related, try taking agnus castus and a b vitamin complex supplement. Agnus castus can be found in either capsule or tincture form, and from what I've read, has been used since pretty much the dawn of time to regulate women's cycles etc.

Oh and if you get the b vitamin supplement, make sure it's a complex one (ie all the "bs"). Both the above are supposed to help with regulating hormones. Starflower oil is another supplement you could try taking, or the evening primrose you mentioned.

I could be way off here, and ignore me if I am :D
    Are you positive it's hormonal?
Was reading your post and I remembered a pal who complained about the same problem.
Turned out her moblie phone was the culprit.
They can be breeding grounds for bacteria no matter how often ya clean them.
If you think you may be getting spots in the exact area of your face you would hold your phone to, that may be your problem.
Hope you get it sorted either way!

    Thanks for the replies all,

Echosound, I will pop up to Holland and Barrett at lunch today and get those suppliments.

Bronte, I don't think it's the phone, I hardly use it (mostly texts) and the spots are on both sides of my face, and I tend to always put the phone to my left ear. But it's something to bear in mind alright.

Hi creme egg! how did you get on with taking the suplements from Holland and Barretts? The same thing is happenning to me at the mo. I came off the pill 4 months ago and am now getting spots on my face neck and back. i have a wedding coming up next month and the dress i'm wearing has a low back. I doubt i'll be able to wear it if things don't improve!:(

Hi Flimsee, I am getting on fine with the suppliments, have run out of starflower capsules, but will get more soon. I do see an improvement, I don't seem to be getting as many spots. Are you sure yours are hormone related?

bubblebut, they are usually small enough, red and will then have a white head on them.

Hiya, I had those hormone related spots on my chin and neck. I went back on the pill, but also a few other things really helped.

    - Dermologica products are great for keeping them at bay - micro exfloiant & ultra calming cleanser & facewash - all very very mild and non irritable. I find that perfumed cosmetics etc. affected it.

-magnesium and zinc supplements really helped also.

    - I kinda found out that it has alot to do with diet and I would be in some way intolerent to wheat. swapping beer for something else and laying off the bread for a while helps also.

-You can get IPL also for skin resurfacing -this is expensive.

ask me anything else if u like.

I had a problem with my back also and went on Bymicin and saw a difference within a month. The spots didn't vanish but were definitely less noticeable, less red. I'm still on them now and am happy with the results so far :D
