    Hi Folks,

I'm going to buy a 1995 Clio Williams 2.0, and I want to you recomend a garage to install a turbocharger.
Do you know where I can go? I live in Dublin south (Dundrum).

    Thanks a lot!.

Have you a turbo kit bought? Firstly, a couple of things to consider when adding a turbo kit. You can get serious gains from naturally aspirated tuning on the williams, and it being a light car anyway a little more power will make a big difference. Also, N/A tuning won't limit your resale potential. Turbocharging this car will limit its appeal, and I'd question the cost and maintenance as well as the extra insurance if its worth it. You'll have a hard time selling a turbo'ed clio williams, and personally I think putting a turbo on such a modern classic is a shame!

If you have not bought the car yet, and want a car with a turbo, buy a glanza(WHAAA BIY, DACENT) or something, do NOT buy a williams and ruin it with badly thought out engine tuning like a turbo. Uprated cams, chipping the engine, exhaust, manifold, air filter and porting/polishing the head will be far more reliable and give you more power then a small turbo kit that will reduce reliability. The williams is an "old school" car, and you need old school tuning. Bolting on a turbo is not as easy as it seems, and is not the perferred option when plenty of N/A options exist for this car.

However, look up trackday performance in Wicklow, they are great at bespoke engine tuning. If you get this done on the cheap at any old garage, it'll go terribly wrong and you'll no doubt loose your engine soon!

    Hi Bud,

Yes I know that sometimes do that it's a pity.. but.. is my dream you know? and not sure if I will sell the car for a LONG time.. may be never more.. so.. I need a good place to put the turbo in place.
Answering your question, no, I didn't bought the turbocharger yet.. was I was looking in england, they have a lot of brands and Im waiting their answer.

Do you have any idea about the cost of the insurance, when I'll get the turbo in place?.

    Thanks a million!

Why not ring the insurance company, tell the you're thinking of buying a clio williams. You've seen 2 and want quotes. One has a turbo, one doesn't. Then you'll have the figures and can think it over.

Yes, will do.. but I was wondering that you may be had an idea.. Im at work and really I cant call them right know.

So.. can you recomend some good turbocharger to put in place? my problem is that the williams has a little free space on the engine, and Im not sure if can be possible.. I sent a couple of emails to the garages you recomend and Im waiting the answer.

    Cheers!

Car never had a turbo as standard did it? I think you should leave it as is.

It's quick enough, and messing with it will murder it's future value.

Honestly, its a specialist job, and if you are serious about it, it might be worthwhile bringing the car to england to a Renault tuning expert. Trackday are supposed to befairly good so check them out, and if there is not engine space they may get a bonnet made up to increase space. Also, make sure you can get insurance before you do any mods. I know Hibernian cover mods once declared but will increase your premium for performance mods.

Definitely look into the N/A tuning option, its far more reliable and the power will be more useable then a high tuned turbo on an N/A engine.

Im serious about the turbo.. but you're making me thinking a lot.. and if I still thinking about, will put a chip in place, instead of a turbo.

I will call the guys of Trackday and ask..Im not an engineer onto this and for sure they will help me (and take my money aswell).

Hmm, correct me if I am wrong, but you just cannot put turbo in high-compression ratio engine like Clio Williams, you will only get a broken engine as a result,

also I really dont think you can change anything if you just chip it, I have seen loads of test results that it gives you nothing, maybe 3-5hp max.

You can more or less turbo anything, altho the high compression wouldnt be suited to it.Its gonna cost a hell of alot of money, and thats if a garage will even take on the work.

Do you have the parts sourced to do a conversion?your probably better off going down the road of intake/exhaust/cams and have it set up properly
