Possibly, I always thought it just said "Operate" and I always scowled everytime I heard it.

I think the guy who recorded that message works (or used to work) in Busaras, making announcements, directing people to their buses etc. I remember him as being helpful and pleasant - unlike many of the grumpy bollixes that you come across working in that place.

We stayed in an appartment in Westport before, when you got into the lift this real culchie girl spoke in the flaaatest accent:

And so on... Was so funny the first few times but started to grate thereafter.

I think that's great! It never gets annoying.

I always thought it was 'Luggage doors in operation' or 'Luggage doors operating'.

Whatever it is it gets seriously annoying when it doesn't stop once the luggage doors stop operating!

I had to listen to that soopid voice every Friday for 4 years, and I'm pretty sure its 'operate' or 'operaysh'. Even the other Meath people say so!!

Yeah, like the feckin announcements on the Mk4s. Drives me spare any time I hear them, takes ages in Irish then takes ages in English too. Give me the Mk3s any day. The announcements on the DART are grand, short, simple and to the point... when they're working of course!

But back on topic, I always thought it was "luggage doors operate." And I thought the same thing, "eh, that sounds wrong."
