Downgrading Toshiba L40 17M to XP

    Hi All,

I have a Toshiba L40 17M laptop which comes with Vista home premium.

I would like to format the hard disk and install XP (I have a full legal copy with serial number and I will be able to activate it).

My problem is that I do not have any drivers for this machine on xp, the drivers that are already on the machine (in C:\Toshiba\Drivers) are for vista only and there are no other drivers on the product recovery disc.

Does anyone please know where I could download drivers for this machine & XP?, as vista is driving me mad!!!!!!!!!

Thanks in advance for any help with this (and saving my sanity!!!)

Try going here and see if there is xp drivers for your laptop. If not, then you may have to live with xp.

Thanks for that A.C. There were some XP drivers on there, so I think I might give it a go.

Do you think that going back to XP is a good thing?

    Speak to you soon.

Well it depends. What is it you hate about vista? If it's something that can be undone then I wouldn't bother. If it's something that can't be undone or you have a fairly low spec laptop and vista is running slow then install xp.

Hi again A.C. Vista runs fine on my laptop (it has a very good spec) its just that I'm so used to using XP that everything seems to be more difficult with Vista, but it is probably my incompetance ;-)

Perhaps I'll soldier on with vista for a little while longer and see if I can use it a little more efficiently.

Thanks for the help and directions to the XP drivers, at least now, I have a choice.

    Speak to you soon.
