Anyone got recommendations on where to service an old Jaguar besides Spirit? Ideally Dublin or North Wicklow?

    Cheers

Spirit Motor Group in Sandyford Industrial Estate - it's a bit further away but it should do what you need.

I do most of the work on my 18 year old jag myself as the car is worth so little. However I do use Dublin automotive in Kilbarrick for the odd service or big stuff. I find they will use the recommended expensive parts and fluids but not charge and arm and a leg for it. I also tend to order my parts from Berkshire Jaguar, they are very good, and will supply secondhand parts too.

Hope this helps. running cats on a shoestring.

Thanks Stratos, I've used Berkshire for a few parts and have found them good too.
    I'll check out Dublin Automotive.

Anyone else got recommendations, I had been told there was a Jaguar service guy set up in Wicklow...?

I too am fed up paying main dealer prices for servicing by Spirit/Shaguar. Does anyone else have any recommendations for a good independant Jaguar mechanic in Dublin/North Wicklow? Thanks in advance. ;)

I used Bolands in Wexford. It was worth my while to travel there from the big smoke. They are a main dealer but they were about half the price of Spirit

gti direct on the kylemore road do a lot of top end servicing (bentleys, astons etc) as far as i know they do a lot of contract work for main dealers so if you were to get your main dealer to do a service it would be gti that actually do it, with genuine parts also!

That's an amazing reply, and clearly what the OP was looking for. Well read!

How much is a standard service? was looking at some 2nd hand x types, but trying to work of servicing costs etc.. to see if its worth buying.

@hupp: thanks for the info, but as others have pointed out it's probably not relevant to the poster any more.
