    So, when's the next beers?

I would like to get to one before I leave. Okay those of you in the know know I haven't got flights booked yet, but I'm still going! Should be gone in early June.
Just want to start planning out the last few weekends in advance so I don't miss out on anything like!

Then I'll be back in December for a Christmas one! :D

Talk to The_Recliner ... he's tasked with booking the next beers, and I think a provisional date has already been identified.

I am, but it's not a big BGRH/LL night. It's a quieter affair. I didn't post a thread or anything. I think Don wants one like the last time, with about 50 people at it (It was great!)

Trout nominated/threatened me into organising beers in a beer garden somewhere

June 20th was suggested by the genius/giant Smashey as it is the longest day of the year so more outdoor time to be had and the possibility of decent weather that time of year

If someone wants to arrange something for May then go ahead, don't think there is anything organised yet

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,172 ✭✭✭Don1

Solstice is the 21st non? I shall be gone by there, and it will be the shortest day of the year for me! :( I'll be back for the 21st of December so I get two of them in the one year! :(

I am not sure of the exact date of the Solstice but the 20th is a Friday which generally suits for Beers

Maybe you might organise a going away beers and then a coming back beers when you return :D

Ah, I see. Hmmm, organisation is not a strong point of mine. I have a season ski pass bought, and no money for flights or gear! :D I don't think it'd be a good idea for me to be in charge of it............

I have arranged Karaoke & Beers for all boardsies at the mercantile on may 30th. But I would still go to a BGRH beers! (never have enough beer!) :D

Reclincer the 21st of June is the longest day of the year.

Pighead will be there. Its gonna be a proud night. He's getting officially ordained as a bona fida Senior BGRH Brother.

So that means we can drink longer then? I must admit it's good the pubs open later during the summer, still waiting for them to bring in 24hr drinking hours! :p

Thanks Ginny, I think that is why the 20th was suggested as it is the nearest Friday

I will probably stick up a thread looking for suggestions for pubs closer to the time. I have a couple of places in mind but will see if the combined minds of bgrh can come to some sort of consensus

yup that was the first one that came to mind. Myself and Fapna suggested it at nearly the same time. Great minds and all that :D

Another suggestion was the Porter House in Phibsborough but that might not be central enough for people

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 13,425 ✭✭✭✭Ginny

God no that would be miles out for anyone coming from the south side.
isn't there that other place in templebar near the hairy lemon that has a beer garden?

kind figured as much. We generally need somewhere central but all suggestions will be considered

Technically it is Glasnevin, it is just across the canal at the junction of prospect road and whitworth road

    It is a nice place

I thought that I was due to be in a field in Somerset drinking cider over the solsitce again this year. But seems that the Jedi are more powerful than I could possibly imagine and that shindig's happening the week later instead, Diceys it is then.

i would be totally up for the porterhouse north but i would think it is a bit far out for a lot of people. but is great for taxi's, you catch them on the way back in :)
