Two different charges for the two assaults.

They were convicted of "assault causing harm" to Garda Hendrick, but for Garda Comer, the charge was "intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm".

    Eh, why??

I just found it odd that these two were acquitted of almost stabbing
to death a garda and wondered why it was so?

There probably was insufficient evidence as regards the alleged stabbing of the second garda. You'll never know what happened in the juries deliberations.

Juries are smart, and there most likely was a reason why they convicted in one and not the other, most likely they were satisfied of one but had a doubt of the other.
