André 3000? I haven't heard is solo album but as far as i know Organized Noise done pretty much everything else he's been on. Did he do any of the love below?

I've been listening to alot...and i mean ALOT of DOOMTREE stuff lately, and they have a producer called LazerBeak, he is amazing, not saying he's the best of all time because he needs a bit more longevity, but he's one to watch.

He produced every track on The Love Below apart from 'Roses' (which was produced by Dojo5). André 3000 is actually a member of a producer group called Earthtone III (which also consistes of Big Boi & Mr. DJ) and they have produced a load of tracks together as you can see here.

I'm going to have to check out some of these people.

Another producer, I'm discoving at the moment is Pete Rock. He produced "The World is Yours" by Nas, one of my all time favourite hip hop tracks. The other stuff i've heard is great too.

Pete Rock you say? Never heard of him... :D

You need Pete Rock & CL Smooth's 'Mecca and the Soul Brother'. One of the best produced albums ever, and has the best Hip-Hop track ever (T.R.O.Y.).

Pete Rock on a bad day is better than a lot of producers on a good day. He's lost some of the spark he used to have but his influence is massive.

Jay Dee..... Nobody could chop a sample the way he does.

I've loved RZA since I first heard Enter The Wu-Tang. Premo and Pete Rock of course are up there.

A year or 2 ago I would've said 9th was pretty damn good but it's as if his sound is becoming stagnant.

Madlib is damn good, same for Doom. Madvillainy is just  Dangermouse is nice with it too.

Black Milk is dope as hell though, Khrysis is showing a lot of promise too.

    lads ERIC B
Fact, eric b never produced a song in his life. He was rakims dj on tour all the credit he got for production was never deserved. Rakim admitted in interviews in recent years.

Premo is my favourite prdoucer by a mile.

Premo is da king, nobody will ever touch him really. Love his Jeru Da Damaja stuff in particular.

If Eric B didn't handle production so, who did? Marley Marl?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 306 ✭✭ItsNugget

Rakim didnt actually say in the interview. Probably did it himself or else unknowns.

what about mr. bangladesh??he has had some classic songs. whats your fantasy and block lock down by Luda, you dont want drama and dont make by 8Ball and MJG and of course most recently A Milli by Lil Wayne...all have amazing beats!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

How many albums has Bangladesh produced again?

Madlib really isn't overrated. He's pretty damn good actually

No love for Edan's production here? I loved the psychedelic stuff on Beauty and the Beat and he's pretty handy with the cheap and cheerful old-school beats too.

Joe Beats is alright too... figured I'd mention him since nobody else did. Although tbh I like his indie remixes more than the Non Prophets stuff.

Ayatollah chops just as well on most of his tracks too. Mine would be Premo, Jay Dee, Ayatollah, Pete Rock, Dre... in no particular order

BEP have had some good songs with James Brown wen he was alive and sting. I think Will.i.am beats R fresh

The Neptunes are the only hip-hop production team to come out in the last 15 years who have had a steady work rate and that have always managed to get it right. Now not all there tracks were certified hits (Sleepy Brown 'Margurite' as an example) but the more you think bout it you'll realise what serious stuff they've done!

Timbaland has only recently improved his output, usually he only did the missy elliot album then a couple of one of beats here and there but since Sexyback he's been everywhere!

Just Blaze is totally underrated (if you dont belive me check out his youtube channel).

    Kanye = just brilliant!

Never a huge fan of Dre though i cant wait for Detox just to see what its gonna be like!!

They are wildly inconsistent, the last Clipse was brilliantly produced but the last two NERD labums larelgy stunk.

And if anything Timbaland's latest output has been poor and samey, Shock Value for a start was absolutely appalling. His best work was years ago in the late 90s/early 00's with Bubba Sparxxx and Missy Elliot.

Finally, Just Blaze seems pretty highly rated in the Hip-Hop world for someone who seems to put out about two new beats a year and who has practically destroyed Saigon's career. Overrated imo.

Kanye is definetly better then the above three.

As I said, Black Milk is head and shoulders above all. The pure quantity of excellent beats he puts out is stunning, and he switches his style up better then most. People need to listen to 'Motown 25' and accept the truth.

Kanye is decent but saying Just Blaze is overrated is wrong, look up his production credits and check out most of those tracks.

    Havoc is an underrated producer!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

I've listened to plenty of Just Blaze, and I'm saying the dude is ridicously lazy. Some producers who get half the love are busy producing whole albums, something that Just Blaze has yet to do, and we're lucky to get a half a dozen beats from him a year. Which is pathetic.

    Havoc is undoubtedly underrated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 659 ✭✭✭The-Game

True Blaze has slowed it down the last 2-3 years but you cant use that to take away from his talents either, if that was the case people would have Dre at the bottom of the list with the rate he drops beats!!

speaking of which i like Cool & Dre's work, consistently good!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

Personally, I don't check for Dre or Just Blaze, even if they did bother to release music. ;)
