Does anyone know a good place in Dublin to get false eyelashes? I'm going to a ball in a week and not too sure where's the best place to start. Any advice appreciated! :)

    Hi,
I go to Urbana on wicklow street in town www.urbana.ie. They're semi permanent and last for 4-5 weeks and then u can get refills after that. I am addicted to them. They give loads of length and volume and look really natural.

Thanks I'll have to check that out. What kind of price would we be talking about?

Or go in to a chemist, buy them for less than a tenner and stick them on yourself!

You can get some that have the adhesive already applied or you can get some to which you attach the glue yourself (you get several uses out of these as you can just remove the makeup and store them in the box for the next time).

They have never fallen off whenever I've done them and you don't even feel them on you (apart from that extra fluttering feeling when you move your eyes) once you trim them to the correct size -widthwise, not lengthwise. If you apply your mascara after you've let the glue dry, it secures them onto your own lashes as well.

More money to spend on the night;)

DON'T GO NEAR THE LASH BAR! They are awful, I had them done recently and although I had told the girl that she missed some she said she hadn't. Needless to got home a few quid down and had to physically pull them all out as was going out that evening. Unfortunately Pout has now closed, they were excellent. MAC are brilliant, just make sure you call them in advance, they had no glue left last time I was there.

The glue Mac use isn't actually made by them. It's called Duo and it's a medical adhesive. I bought a thing of it for myself so I can do it at home.
The Mac no 7 lashes are the best imo

'One' in the powerscourt centre - you can buy natural looking lashes and have them applied for 20 euro! I loved them!

You could try the eyelashes that H&M Stock. I use the medium ones, they are 4.90 and come with glue and you just need to cut them to your own size. A tip that I found very useful when using any DIY is to apply the glue and shake let it settle for about ten seconds before putting them on as they will stick better. Oh and always bring glue on a night out with you!!!!

Hey girls, I went for the MAC ones in the end. They were €11.50 and the ones I got were number 3. I was getting complements all night so I'd recommend them :). Thanks for all the suggestions

Ditto to that. I used to love the individual lashes Pout did. I went to the Lash bar in the powerscourt centre and they didnt turn out nice at all. I took them off when I got home cos they made my eyes look stumpier and the women was quite rude to me as well. Big no to the lash bar!

Boots do good ones, i think about 8euro or so, they come off nice and easy at the end of the night when u go to take them off, but yet will last all night for u

Any new tips for false eyelashes? My friend got false eyelashes put on last weekend, and they looked fabulous. She got individual ones. I have longish eyelashes anyway, but I'd love to give them a try. Are the no.7 ones from Mac individual ones? Would I be able to teach myself how to do it from youtube? Thank you :)

i personally cant keep lashes on longer than one or two nites max just cos they're annoying and too dressy looking for everyday. I get mac strip lashes and they are reusable so i just reapply when i need em.

biggest pain in the *rse is you're late or rushin and tryin to stick those on - loads of patience is needed and a steady hand :)

You can definately teach yourself to put on falsies from youtube. At the moment on www.makeupgeek.com , she has a tutorial up on how to use them, and she gives some pretty good tips there! :D

Didn't find the H&M ones the best tbh, they don't have great staying powe, ut what more do you expect for €4.90. The y-lure ones are pretty good - you can get them in Boots for about €8-€15, and y-lure also do a tokyo range which are slightly more dramatic (they use feathers, they're not all black - pretty cool if you're sort of quirky or going to a fancy dress party!)

you need to get a good glue for lashes to stay longer - you can get a good one in makeup forever for like 15 euro - lasts and lasts. and then stick on any lashes at all :)

The lash bar is where i go and it's fab. even if 1 or 2 fall out (which is normal) after a few days, they fix them free and they really are thorough.

i think they're open 7 days and there's a girl Ciara who's brilliant. she took the time with me which is important to me.

they use really natural hair lashes and they have an amazing amount of other strip lashes too. MAC is more expensive and their range is not as good. the girls are makeupartists in mac and they dont seem to know anything about the lashes.

Walked past there tonight on the way back from the gym, and was thinking I'd love to try those out. Will give them a shout and ask for Ciara - thanks :)

Edit: Oh no - I was the innocent victim of marketing spam :)

Slightly off topic, but how are you supposed to put on the lashes? Before or after you do your eye make up? I've yet to try them but have a set somone gave me for christmas that i wanna try.

After you do your make up would be the usual, I would say. That's what I've always done anyway!

Be careful if you're using strong bright colours or pigments, my sister wrecked a pair of her favourite lashes (she's addicted) by putting on the lashes, then applying some bright green pigment, it went on the lashes, and they're still a little shimmery because of it even though she's cleaned them. So watch out! :) I'd always put them on first, then use eyeliner to even the base of them to give a defined eye, but usually only do simple eye make up if emphasising my lashes.
