Will not be bothered going. Rather go to some other place and keep the €20 or so for drinks or a taxi home.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 131 ✭✭cognos

    includes bbq ;)

still a bit pricey for me though considering the intra paychecks have yet to start rolling in!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,256 ✭✭✭c0rk3r

How much were the tickets last year ? €20 doesnt seem too much to me. See it as an investment for your memories.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,432 ✭✭✭df1985

think it was 15.it was class last yr. see how the student unon are tryin to fill the hub earlier with the bbq nonsense.not gonna happen! guarantee at 11 0 clock a queue of hundreds ****faced outside.

17.50 is still cheap, 22.50 for non-menbers is also pretty good (considering bar membership is €13)

if you wanna go see anything in Tripod you'll be forking out €25 - €35 for the pleasure. less of yer moanin :D

yeah but who are we paying to see? we're being asked to pay €18 and haven't been told who's playing. I'd say the act will be ****e, i am going though, should be a laugh

Last time i went (which is bout 3 years in all fairness), the BBQ was there, but I'm pretty sure you were paying for the food in there

I don't think we had to pay, and it was like €7 for a ticket, plus a mate would be the same price. There was sand too.

    This is rubbish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,328 ✭✭✭gamblitis

Its a complete rip off! Standing by its reputation anyway thats for sure!Won't be going and tbh i only know a handful who will. Shame really.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,335 ✭✭✭rugbug86

You didn't have to pay. There was a free BBQ early in the night, and then the external company who used to sell grub in the old bar were selling chips and burgers and stuff at the end of the night which you did have to pay for. But every year since 0405 there's been a BBQ and sand.

I thought it was going to be a flop tbh, but there's only 400 tickets left and thats going on ticket numbers, not the usual "nearly sold out" speil.

was there a bbq and sand last year?

And I think people like the idea of a chilled out evening/night, maybe thats why its selling so well?

Perhaps they'd be better off dropping this "international act" farce and lowering the price of tickets. Unless it's the sawdoctors........

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,335 ✭✭✭rugbug86

No there's a good few acts, I was talking to Shea yesterday. Should be a good night :)

Yeah, I think there was a BBQ last year. They're always early cos theres only ever food for like 100 people or something. But apparently not this year, Gary said there's food for all!

I heard Dario G? any truth to that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,330 ✭✭✭✭Amz

Igy, they've alredy told us Dario G is/are playing, but it's the "headline" act they're keeping a sekrit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,328 ✭✭✭gamblitis

Why would they bother keeping it a secret? If they actually told people might they not have a better chance of selling more tickets?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 960 ✭✭✭:|

only reason I can think of is that it's someone sh1te. Hopefully not, I think it sounds great except for the "secret act"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 108 ✭✭baker59

I'm going as it'll be my last DCU social night but to be honest, I'd prefer to pay €7 (or whatever) and not see Dario G, Vengaboys, East17 or whatever washed up act they have lined up for us. Just some DJ playing good songs (and not the hip hop **** that is typical for the new bar)

    €18 plus about €4 a drink?
There will be alot of pre drinking before it while watching football.

I sound like miserable prick now but I will be up for a good night and hopefully the weather matches the nights theme.

    My sentiments exactly.

I'm going because it's my last one. I wouldn't miss it for the world. BUT I do think it's a bit expensive.

    Can't wait though. Pre-drinkies. Yeay!

Oh and everyone is gonna miss the BBQ cos of predrinks. They should do the BBQ at the end when everyone has the munchies!!

Can i have a job where you work? I could only imagine the money for full time work!

And Republic of Loose.Seriously why can't they have any decent bands at these things.I don't think they are gonna do any good for the numbers tbh.

    Feat:
    - Dario G

    - Camembert Quartet
    - Republic of Loose
    - Padraig Rushe + Band
    - DJ Red
    - DJ Brian

For a moment i thought i saw Dj rush. Now that would be something. Not to be though. How many tickets are left for sale ? They should reduce the cost to €10 on wednesday morning to clear any remaining tickets.
