I want a fringe

I have had the same hair style since I was 17. Its long, straight and normally get layers.

So, I really wanted a fringe, so went to the hairdresser and she said that she would not cut a fringe into it. That because my vein (parting) was in the centre, it would ruin the look of the fringe (effectively it would look like a curtain).

I was so dismayed, I had build myself up for a change.

My question is, is it possible to get a fringe when you have a centre parting?

Am still hoping that I may be able to get one.

Well my parting never interfered with me getting a fringe. You just need to train it down. Perhaps your parting is stronger than mine though... You could start varying your parting from side to side to train your hair away from lying naturally in just one position?

Of course you can have a fringe with a centre parting. Any classic bob is styled that way :confused:

    That's mad!

It might seperate a little at first but a little bit of hairspray should solve that and maybe a hairclip at night. Personally, I think fringes look nicer with a side parting but surely it's up to you what you want done to your hair! I got a fringe a couple of weeks ago, I love it but my boyfriend hates it (it makes me look bolder :p), I thought I would have trouble getting it to lie properly, but I can wear it down or to the side with no problems. If you really want a fringe then go to a hairdresser who will be willing to give you one.

    Rubbish!
    Course you can!
I've a middle parting all my life and a fringe most of my life. now its a side fringe.
I know alot of people aswell who have middle splits with Fringes. Just get a Rolly brush though incase. even when you're fringe is dry, a good Blast of a hot hairdryer with a Roundy brush will have it sorted in minutes...seconds in fact!

just straighten it with a ghd and some hair spray?! yes it naturally would have split in the middle but you can train it to sit different. my hair has a curl just at the front so I straighten my front layers and its grand

i got one yesterday and my hair naturally parts in the middle...its funny how different hair dressers will tell you stuff..when i went before the hairdresser wouldnt do cos i have a little cows lick, but then yesterday the hairdresser who cut the fringe just showed me how to minimise it so it wouldnt interfere with the fringe. Not sure how i feel about the fringe tho,i look completly different, might take some getting used to..ah sure its only hair..it'll grow back..

no it shouldn't but if you have a very strong parting it might. but i suppose you can train it down.

I was surprised how different mine makes me look too. But I'm like you - it'll grow it back, a change is always good.

Thats crazy...I always thought I couldnt have a fringe because of a centre parting, but I took the plunge a few years back and got a blunt one...yes you do have to maintain and train it...it evolved into a side fringe, but I find that takes training too..most of my friends joke about the gap in their side fringe in photos..dont go back to that hairdresser, I suggest going somewhere like Toni and Guy who seem to be experts in fringes IMO. Ive never had as good a fringe as when I went with them...
