Im buying a car with just plain white reg plate with black font, and no county above the numbers, and no IRL on the left so im guessing its illegal. Was wondering where I could get a legal one? Do all car places like halfords do them?

Most motor factors print number plates. Prices can vary so shop around.

If you are buying from a dealer, insist on them supplying road legal plates.

If it's private, the seller might have a NCT set as well.
As it's '02 then it should've been through at least one NCT.

Those type of plates are only legal on cars registered before 1991.

You could get them from here: http://www.fancyplates.com/
    Go to the 'constructor' link.
