    www.pwinsider.com :

It was just announced at today's Smackdown/ECW Taping in London, England that Mike Adamle is the new announcer for ECW. He is set to call tonight's entire broadcast.

The word going around backstage at the show is that Joey Styles will be moved to another area within the company.

    What?...

I was getting happy when I saw the title, I thought Timmy Baltimore had got the job. That guy is very good. Adamle...certainly not

Mike Adamle, of "Jeff Harvey", "Flair, your career perhaps on the line tonight" and "WDF" fame

Just when Ecw was getting like the real ecw with more wrestling they go and take away the best move calling announcer.

Absolute joke and proves wwe don't care what people think and truly believe they can do what they want as they are competition free.

Oh wow I think I remember that Jeff Harvey bit. Wasn't that like his first line too? I was really hoping he'd been bumped down to Bottom Line or one of those shows.

Think I'll give him a chance before I start laying into him.

Was never a fan of styles anyway, voice seemed a bit whiney

I don't think he'll be very good initially and that's not really his fault. It'll be a case where he's learning on the job. If he's no good in 6 months, then he will have a problem.

Wasn't it reported in the Observer a while back that he has a reputation for being bad live? I think I read that some radio presenter would encourage people to tune in to hear him mess up on the radio

I watched a bit of ECW just there and read a bit more, sounds like he didn't know people's names, like The Tazz and Mike the Miz. Also called a simple leglock a "figure four"

I suppose I'll only be hearing him for one match at each PPV though, I can live with it

So now both Smackdown and ECW have terrible announce teams. And on RAW i'm so tired of Lawler's schtick at this stage.

    Announcing on WWE

television is at an all time low.

Is it really that hard to find a half decent announcer these day? With people like Don West, The coach and Michael Cole on TV and now this guy. In fairness to WWE if Joey is gone to SD thats well and good, Cole and Coach make horrendous listening. Get JBL back on the stick ASAP.

Joey is gone off the tv completely. He is head of wwe.com now.

Head of WWE.com?! Now thats a strange one. It's amazing how WWE aren't allowing him toplay to his strengths. What does being head of WWE.com entail I wonder?

Joey used to run the original ECW website and some other wrestling news site as well. I don't think he is being demoted, if anything its a promotion. ECW is dead now, and wwe have been making alot of noise in the last year about focusing on the website and tightening their game on that one.

Does anyone really care though tbh. It's not liked he's replaced J.R. or that any of us watch more than 5 mins of an ECW show.

. or that any of us watch more than 5 mins of an ECW show.

I watched this weeks just to see how he did. He didn't talk much but when he did, he was entertainingly bad. My favourite line that he had was when Kofi was making a comeback he proclaimed: "Jamaican me crazy, Kofi!~!".

In some ways I feel bad for the guy. However, it's not like he's a broadcasting rookie and plus he's reportedly on 300 thousand dollars a year.

I'll be giving ECW at least another 10 minute go next week just to listen to him.

    Oh Mike!

Thats kinda cool. It means he probably has a bit of knowledge regarding website development although chances are he won't be getting into that area. Does this mean he's being taken off the road? That could be sweet for him if he fancies spending more time with the family and stuff.

It sounds like Styles will be on the road more he now has to attend Raw and Smackdown/ECW apparently, I hear the reason for putting Adamle in the booth is because he is being paid $300,000 a year and they aren't getting their moneys worth, why the fluck did they sign him to begin with especially to a contract that big

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,594 ✭✭✭Fozzy

Yeah, sounds like it is an actual promotion for Joey, he has to sit in on production meetings and take more responsibility

Can you imagine how this guy would have been received by fans in the Attitude era had he replaced JR?

Next week should be interesting. He'll have to improve a little bit but I think he's far from done saying stupid things.

The video didn't capture the worst bit of it which was the fact that he really didn't say much throughout the hour. Taz must have done 75% of the talking and there were awkward silences at times.

I think he will gaim a cult reputation pretty fast.Like it is very entertaining

I'll have to watch ECW more often now! "The Deuce" :D

Bruce Mitchell of the torch made the point that do you notice in every column he does critiscing the WWE, he still says that Vince knows exactly what he's doing. I thought it was an interesting observation.

Just watching ECW now on Sky and maybe they edited it, but Adamle doesn't seem that bad. I loved the "JAMACAN me crazy, Kofi" line. Classic! I'm surprised Alvarez didn't slate him more over the weekend, unless he did it on the figure4 daily show.

    From www.prowrestling.net :
    By Jason Powell

Although the early word going around is that Mike Adamle was a pet project of executive producer Kevin Dunn, it was actually Vince McMahon who made the decision to rush him onto the air. Adamle is friends with NBC executive Dick Ebersol, who has a longtime friendship with McMahon.

As if it wasn't obvious, the story goes that Adamle and Tazz did very little prep work for their first appearance together last week even though they had time to do so. Adamle's commentary was actually worse than what was shown on television. He worked with the production team to make edits after the show, but they simply ran out of time to complete the edits before they had to finalize it for broadcast
