Point and Shoot - Recommendations (canon or panasonic?)

I had a lovely little canon ixus (850IS) which i unfortunately lost in transit on holiday (pinched i think by airport staff).

i had a look around and found the new panasonic lumix DMC-FX500(520) very agreeable. i think the touch screen and HD mode got to me. has a 25mm lens with 10MP. its not officially out until the end of the month so theres little reviews

    http://panasonic.co.jp/pavc/global/lumix/fx500_fx520/index.html

but, i found the Canon Powershot G9 also quite nice, good rugged styling, great controls plus RAW capabilities, 12.1MP.

    there roughly the same price.

does anyone have recommendations for panasonic or canon powershots. seemingly the lumix fx-500 (stupid name) is similar to the lumix fx-35.

i have a canon 5d, so this is purely for carrying about with me on a day to day basis.

    thanks.

You have a 5D and you still question Canon???? :P

I would go for canon just as a personal taste...

i have a Canon G7 it's grand in good light but not so good in lower light which makes it really the same as all the rest - mucky low light photographs, i presume the G9 is similar and all the rest too, how about the Sigma DP1 bit expensive but perhaps it might urge the other players into action eh?
    :)
