can't comment too much as i only spent a day in that region but it was absolutely beautiful, spent most of the day in franchooek sp?). There' also a really nice private games reserve (very well run and structured) about 2 hours away from there, which, not only is great for seeing the animals but is also great for chilling out in the middle of nowhere, they have a lovely property, the rooms/bungalos were fine, and a nice pool to chill out in. if you're interested in finding out more, let me know and i'll dig out the details somewhere.

I was in Capetown a few years ago for NYE. A lot of the restaurants have NYE parties and so charge a set price for the meal and the majority were booked up well in advance so if you are interested in that then plan ahead.

there are some amazing restaurants in capetown which end up really cheap compared to what we're used to here

Go to Camp's Bay, Le Med. It is a nice club / bar on the beach. Go before for sunset drinks it is absolutely amazing. Been to New Year's party there before. There are also some excellent restaurants in Camp Bay. You won't go wrong.

    Bump !

Still nothing booked, looking for the right hotel rather than restnt etc.
Capetown seems so diverse there are so many options cant make up my mind.
Seems to be a lot of small boutique hotels which I am leaning towards. Anyone any experience of any of them ?

Nah, the hotels i stayed in when in Cape Town were just the standard ones that you see, e.g. Fountains Hotel.
But i'm sure places like Stellenbosch wine regions will have beautiful boutique hotels. actually any of the small towns in the wine regions would be nice for NYE.

If you are actually going to be around Cape Town city for NYE then head for the V&A waterfront and you will need to book a table well in advance.

Another option for in around the city is to rent an apartment although if you are on honeymoon you are probably going to be travelling round a lot.

    Hi ,

Stayed in a great boutique hotel called Primi Royal in Camps Bay . Only 7 rooms and they even have their own taxi driver who'll drop everything when you call. Its 100m from beach and 200m from restaurants which are amazing . Blues reaturant is around the corner and I couldnt reccomend it enough. Camps bay is about 6 euro in a cab from capetown and is on the sightseeing bus route. We stayed for 5 days and did all the tours etc.. from here
Also stayed in Stellenbosch for 3 Days in Batavia House which is another boutique hoteland also would reccomend this highly . Love restaurants in Stellenbosch too .

Any questions , just ask .

we stayed in the Cape Herritage Hotel in Cape Town - if you're a fan of boutique hotels, then this is for you. www.capeheritage.co.za

It doesn't have a pool, but oodles of character and shares a courtyard with a great selection of restuarants from Tapas to fine dining.

I'd also highly recommend Akadamie Street guesthouse in Franschhoek www.aka.co.za. If staying there (or anywhere in the vicinity) get them to book you into Reubens for dinner.
