what do you think of the new layout?
Personally, I don't like it and think its much too cluttered and takes longer to view the headlines.
The top 1/3 of my screen (widescreen laptop) is taken up with the advert, banner and specific links. The rest is taken up with some large pics and video.
Tis back to RTE.ie for me!

it was due an update and its good that we have another source of video and audio news, it looks fresh, but they've downgraded world news to less then sport and have more room entertainment news then anything else, and they've got horoscopes wtf?

your right ckb you used to be able to see the latest irish and world headline in one glance, they upgrade has reduced that.

The new layout is awful, I had always considered that one of the strengths of the site was the ease of navigation, I don't want to have to go looking for the links to read the articles.

Is this site owned/run by INN?

No. Thomas Crosbie Media, who own De Irish Examiner and De Echo.

Agree with the other posters, kinda preferred the old look in that 5 of the latest headlines of each topic, no nonsense or editorial judgements as to what needed top billing. If it warranted it, it could be flagged as the Top Story of the day, but if it shifted out of the last 5 items to break, it was onto the full list.

I have a great firefox plugin that blocks flash content, unless its something you want to display then you simply click on it and it plays instantly as normal. I actually physically could not use entertainment.ie before installing it. Look it up!

I find its far too cluttered and a lot more hassle to navigate through. I've already removed it from my favourites. Like you said, back to RTÉ.

+1. I didn't realise they had had a makeover, but it was much harder to find what I wanted today. I just wanted to duck in a get the racing results and duck out, which it was really good for in the past, but its kinda messy now.

I have to say breakingnews.ie was one of my first sites to visit and the main site I would refresh during the day.
The simplicity of it was why I did that. No mad multimedia options, no clutter, just the nitty gritty news.
I believe they are still fine tuning the layout but unless it declutters and gets back to basics I think I'll be using another site.

I only ever get their reports through RSS, so I didn't even notice there had been a change!

    Cheers Mr E,
Much appreciated-I'll be using that from now on.

Click the 'text only' icon at the bottom right, thats brings it back to what it used to look like, and yes, the new lay out is shi#e.

AND they don't start til 10am on a Sunday!

I hate the new layout. Looks like nobody checks the stories any more either, typos ahoy in the last couple of months!

Is it just me, or has it become increasingly tabloidy recently?

I don't like the new layout either
