We Own The Night

    Any body else see this?

Wasn't impressed to be honest and I was really looking forward to it. I like Joaquin Phoenix & Marky Mark and once I get to meet Eva Mendes, I'm making her my wife but I thought the film really lacked something.

It seemed to drag. I just can't put my finger on what it was. The ending seemed to be just thrown together cos they were running over schedule or something.

Any one else find it not up to scratch?

I liked it, it's not my favourite film ever but i'd watch it again, parts of it felt a little familiar or something. Some of the violence was pretty brutal! Good family entertainment! :pac:

The car chase was excellent, but the rest of it was very very mediocre.

Pretty good film, have to say I had no major qualms with it. Mark Wahlberg could have done with more screen time, if I had to drag something up.

Saw it opening night in the cinema and thoroughly enjoyed what it was. There was a constant feeling of deja vu which was actually quite comforting. We've seen it all before but it doesn't out stay it's welcome and boasts some fine performances

I thought it started brilliantly (no, not just that opening scene). They had a great, well-realised setting, fantastic characters with great performances by Marky Mark and Joaquin Phoenix - and yet they just didnt seem to know where to take it. The film just degenerated into humdrum Hollywood hogwash.

I stuck a review of it up on rotsyourbrain.com around the time it came out.

Yeah I'd agree with that Nekkid. Had so much potential, just didn't live up to it.

I nominated it for Worst film of the year in last years boards awards.

Tried far too hard to be about 6/7 other, better films and fell short on each occasion

I was very disappointed with this. It had so much potential and it just never seemed to work. It really annoyed me because it was a good idea for a story, had a good cast, setting... etc. I was just amazed how weak it was on just about all accounts :(

I really liked it .. Good tension and some nice performances. Would enjoy watching it a second time.

Marky Mark is always solid although I agree with the assertion that he needed more scenes. I enjoyed it but it could have been better. It seemed to slow in pace as it went on.

You see I thought he was weak. I don't think it was completely his fault (although that might be just me saying that as I am a fan) but his character didn't make much sense to me.

Yeah agree there, think he was working with scraps to be honest.
