Page Numbering in Word '97????

I have a 70 page word document created in MS Office '97 and I need to add page numbers. The first few pages will have no numbers, the next few will have roman numerals and the remainder will be numbered 1, 2, 3, etc. Is this possibile and if so how? Thanks in advance. Edited to add I tried using sections and then page numbers but the first few pages are numbered and I can't seem to be able to delete/remove these and keep the remainin numbers as required.
