Anybody know how easy it is to get into this marathon, Im 30 next April and want to do a bit of an exotic marathon, some place different to the norm, and are there any difficulties with heat or humidity.
Also if you have any other suggestions for April 09.
And would your time be recognised for the Boston Marathon.
    Cheers

I had a quick look at the race website. It looks like a fun race. There doesn't appear to be any information about how quickly it fills. There are 7000 places but the japanese love their marathon running so who knows. Of 6100 starters last year only 5200 finished which is quite a high dropout rate. Ave 96% finish Dublin for example. Again, I'm not sure what this tells us? The other thing is that there is a 5 hour cutoff with various cutoffs along the way. If you're talking about Boston this probably doesn't apply to you but worth making the point for slower people who might read this. Talking of Boston, the race is AIMS measured so would be acceptable for the Boston qualification. Weather looks to be ok. temps similar to Ireland this time of year apparently. Can't find humidity figures but rainfall looks ok for this time of year also so I would guess you'll be ok.

For other races this time of year, I would also suggest
    Dead Sea marathon, Jordan
    Santiago de Chile, Chile
    North Pole Marathon

cheers for the info, might give the dead sea marathon a miss, I hate sand with a passion, I won't even go to the beach on a nice day.

As for the Boston marathon and qualifying, I'm possibly being a bit to ambitious but I have a 69 Min 10 mile race time and Ive recently given up work to be the stay at home dad, so I get 3 hours solid in the morn for training when there at playschool also, I have only attempted one marathon (Longford in 02) and it was a disaster, got injured at the 17 mile mark and walked to a disgusted 4 and a half hours, my goal had been 3 and a half,

But now older, wiser and most importantly in full time training
