Not impressed with the fact that there going to have to charge each customer €2 more when flying out of Dublin Airport but it is nice to see the project progessing.

Construction of Dublin Airport's new passenger terminal (T2) is on schedule for completion before the end of 2009 and passengers will begin to use the new facility in 24 months time
Completed in 2009 but not ready for use until 2010? That wording is suitable vague to cover all eventualities. Here's my attempt to translate:
    • Late 2009: "completed": some kind of construction deadline will be achieved, "Mission Accomplished" photo opportunity will take place.
    • Mid 2010: "ready for use": part of the terminal will nearly be completed but for some unforeseen reason can't be opened
    • 2011: part of the terminal will actually be opened
    • 2012: the terminal will be really completed and fully open
Maybe I'm being unfair, but I am willing to take bets :)

Finish late '09, open early '10. Quite reasonable. You need plenty of time to test procedures & machinery. Think Heathrow T5!

T5 was a disaster, because of selfishness. They wanted to show the world, "we can do this our way".

The DAA don't have to look too far to see how an airport can transfer operations, look down in Cork. And for a larger scale, Hong Kong and Bangkok, although the latter was with some pain.

Then look at T5, and learn from their mistakes.
