Did you apply online through pac? I know a lot of their applications say they won't be looked at until after the closing date (which is often around July!). That said, I've applied directly to a couple of English unis and had responses within about 3 weeks.

yes i did for a couple of places...others were paper app (trinity...closing date 3/1) and ucd through their own online system....its so truncated cf what would happen in the us where you apply almost a full year ahead and know by the end of january where you'll be

I applied to DCU In February and got an acceptance thorugh PAC in March. Took 6 weeks, they said it would take 2. I'm also applying from abroad but am fairly sure nothing was sent to my house, it juat came up in my PAC account.

Also from experience with Irish in Maynooth I really wouldn't worry about getting in. They seem mad to get people, and some lads in my class got in with 2.2s and stuff. They seemed to do the accepting at the beginning of the summer.
