Forgive how this sounds but I've to type this quickly! I assume this is a company-by-company policy on giving workers time off, but does anyone know what happened the last time this occurred?

Is he a family member or someone who was close to your family?

I was a young apprentice when DeValera died in the 1970s. Everywhere seemed to close for a half day. I remember walking the streets until we eventually found a non union pub which was still open. The place was absolutely rammed to the rafters. Think it was in Church Street, Dublin.

I think the schools will close Wednesday, not sure though.

I imagine your employer would let you go but you would have to take a holiday
