Legal Aid

Hi i recieved 100% legal aid before my Court case last Dec from the LSC in NI

My actual contribution assesed as being £0 cleary stated at the botom of the certificate.

So on the day i was offered £17, 500 which i accepted. Then straight away my solicator said he would be taking at least £2,000 for his on time on the case, as it went on so long etc. this was fine and i understood that.

Then when i recieved the check on Feb, their was only £12,500. The solicator took £2,500 for his expences/time on the matter with was fine. But then he said that he had been directed by Legal Aid to give back £2500. That this will be placed into a interest bearing account until the issue of the Legal Fees is resolved with the defendants Insurers.

This, he said could take any length of time, and stated a similar client that had been waiting a year for the same thing. And when this is resolved he would have to file a case report to legal aid.

I was just looking for a second opinion on this as i thought my Legal Aid Cert would cover me for this like stated on the cert. thank you, any help would be greatly appreciated. Just wondering is this normal
