    Hey Guys,

I had been neglecting my music for ages but got back into it recently, and stuff like Johnny65's Recommend a NEW Album" is great for finding new music.

Some people had previously told me about Dance Music Blogs but I never really got into it until now.

Anyway, I'm sure you lads probably know some Gems, so please do share!

I don't really read blogs that much these days but find the likes of boomkat good for checking out new albums and singles etc.

    www.boomkat.com

I also recently joined last.fm which is excellent for recommending other music based on what you are listening to - it builds a profile of your music taste and recommends other music based on other user stats. Well worth joining, don't know why I didn't sooner.

i tried getting into the whole blog thing a while ago, but there is really too much sh1t to wade through.

However the greatest invention ever for finding new music is Last.fm

The similar artists are really accurate, and the streaming player's quality is probably the best i've heard.

hypem.com is alright too, but just get on to last.fm and a whole new world will open up to you.

edit: if you do happen to go over there, check out my tracks (if you can find them). I forgot to tell anyone i put them up!! I'm curious to see who the similar artists will be!

Its obviously based on user stats generated by the tags and amount of listens etc on last. I find it pretty much spot on generally speaking and certainly not rubbish.

the majority of it is based on common listens from what i can gather

if a b c and d all listen to you and have band x in their profile common to each other, theyre gonna be listed as a common artist to you, regardless of any sensible connection being present or not

I know but that's the point. If a, b, c and d all listen to Basic Channel for example and I am a new listener to Basic Channel plus keen to hear more of that type of sound... when I look at similar artists I will see Vladislav Delay, Maurizio (an alias but still another artist to check out as such), Scion, Monolake etc - that has been generated because the vast majority listening to Basic Channel are most likely going to also listen to Maurizio etc so they are therefore listed as a similar artist and rightly so. That is why I don't see it as being rubbish - it has listed similar artists and I have discovered new music as a result -
