I remember a friend of mine dropped down from Scotland to stay with me. He had The Orb's first album and put it on just before I went to bed. I was well impressed and even asked him to leave it on so I could listen to it from the bedroom. (he was sleeping on my sofa!)

I had another friend of mine who used to come up and we would stick on The Orb and play Dungeons & Dragons, have a smoke, and generally p155 about until the early hours :p LOL Ah those heady days of being out of work!

I was listening to the new album again today in the car and it is really good - I would have preferred though less in the way of vocals from them as they are a bit much at times. The last couple of tracks really are a nod though to the old Orb - amazing ambient tunes.

I always loved the blue room and little fluffy clouds, though i have to say that towers of dub is savage, the way they twist that dog barking sample is savage.

Yeah really great tracks, never forget when they were played in the Point in '94... that concert is right up there with my best nights ever. The dub bass sound along with the dog sample is absolute genius alright.

Speaking of Blue Room, the 40 minute version on the original U.F.Orb is unreal.

Yeah, Weatherall supported alright, great DJ too. Speaking of him actually, anyone else heard the James vs Sabres of Paradise track, Jam J? - amazing! Highly recommend getting a listen to anyone not heard it.

Did you play the full 40 mins at the UCD gigs?

Another I would highly recommend for anyone who likes the old dub sound from the Orb is Deadbeat - Something Borrowed, Something Blue... amazing album and the only one I have heard from Deadbeat so can't wait to hear more :pac:

I picked up a copy today of Orbsessions 2 and it is a spectacular album, highly recommend it to any fan of The Orb.

I hadn't bothered with this until now as I wasn't that impressed with Orbsessions 1, but this is a totally different story. Amazing.

Old material and puts 'The Dream' as in new material to shame I must say :pac:

I didn't realise they would produce anything still ,U.F.Orb was my proper introduction to the band ,I had other albums before that but I never really heard them properly.

UForb and Adventures would be the two early and most famous albums, I kinda lost interest after Orbvs Terrarvm in 1996 or so (I think, Discogs is down  ) but having heard Orbsessions 2, I will be buying the other albums I missed in the last 10 years.

Also, worth pointing out that nearly all of their albums have been reissued with a 2nd bonus disc of previously unreleased material etc. Dirt cheap too, delivered from Play.com -

Nice find ,the album that cheesed me off was the pomme fritz one. I found it very crass and almost too insane:(

This is probably the only track that was normalish

Pomme Fritz was a bit mad alright but I still love it, reminds me very much of the mid 90's and the chilled and trippy side to clubbing. And the track you posted above is excellent, worth the whole album nearly for that alone.
