Setting up bank account with Paypal account?

    Hi.
    I have a couple of queries about setting up your bank account with Paypal.

    1) How does one transfer money from their bank account to Paypal.
    Do you have to do this from your paypal account or can you arrange the transfer from your bank/online banking.

    2) And if you DO have to do everything from within your paypal account are you then essentially setting up a Direct Debit from your bank account to Paypal.

    3) Is there an option to selectively set up your bank account to only accept withdrawals from your paypal account but NEVER fund payments.
    (Or is it the case that if you set it up at all, Paypal can then access it to pay seller's fees and the like).

    You can't fund payments from an Irish bank account, and that also rules out question 3 since we can only withdraw money to the bank.

    Thats a bit of a pain to be honest. Is there any reason why?
