I'm interested in how the Joe/Angle match will go, because if they really are going to work an MMA style then they risk either doing it badly, losing the audience, or both. I hear that Karen Angle will be showing up "with a mystery guest" which makes my hopes for a match without interference sink. Plus they did the exact same thing before

That handcuff tag team match that you don't have listed sounds like it's only going to mean guys have to overcome a gimmick to make it watchable, like that electrified cage match last year that went bad

Women's match should be good. I'm not sure about the rest. What are the rules for the X-Division match?

I like the build up for the Kip James vs. BG, the whole 'rough cut' thing was pretty original I thought. Unfortunatly I don't have much hopes for the match itself.

Looks like a really good card.

X-Division Xcape match- 6 men enter, first 4 are eliminated by pin or submission and the final two have to Xcape the cage. The winner is X-Division champion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,594 ✭✭✭Fozzy

Oh, and the "Queen of the Cage" match is like the opposite, whoever gets into the cage first has a match. They should just get it over with and have an obstacle course to decide the next champion

Any idea how the handcuff cage match works? No explanation of it on the TNA site, am I meant to know? No explanation of the Lethal Lockdown match either, but I think that has guys entering every five minutes, right? And what's the deal with the weapons in this match, does every new guy get a weapon or are they hung up on a pole or something?

Fozzy most of it is explained on the site. Do you watch TNA today? Anyway the cuff to the cage match is pretty simple, 12 guys, eleven hand-cuffs. You are eliminated when you are cuffed to the cage. And thats every bit as retarded as that sounds.

Queen of the Cage should be awful too.

Putting Consequences Creed in the comedy division is probably one of the biggest botches they've made this year. What a waste. Hopefully I'm proved wrong.

Lethal Lockdown is mostly composed of guys who are either past-it or never had it but nevertheless I'm anticipating a good brawl.

    Angle/Joe should be very good.

The womens match will probably be the match of the night, I'd say, simply because they'll be allowed wrestle without silly gimmicks!

No, TNA Today is like 10/20 minutes, I haven't got the time to watch it. Where are those things explained on the site? On (one of) the PPV lineup pages it has the rules for some of the matches but not the ones I asked about. On another page it has graphics for the matches but no explanations at all

They put up the rules of Lethal Lockdown and the X-Cape matches a few weeks ago.

X-Scape Match- All 6 men enter. 2 men in the ring and they can tag in and out to the other 4. When 4 are eliminated by pin or submission then the final 2 will try to X-Scape the cage. First man out wins or retains the belt.

The explained Cuffed In The Cage about 3 times on Impact. 12 men are in there(6 teams), 11 sets of handcuffs the winner is the the last man without cuffs.

Lethal Lockdown- 2 men start and wrestle for 5 minutes, then the next man enters. Normally they have a match to see who will get the numbers advantage so I don't know how the entries will work but after the 3rd man enters the remaining men will enter in 2 minute intervals until all 10 men are in the ring. The roof will then be lowered with weapons attached to it. First pin or submission wins the match.

I love the ridiculous gimmick matches in TNA as long as they're short. Good commick relief and this handcuff one sounds hilarious. Will be the first time I have watched TNA, if indeed essays don't get in they way, in 2 months but the PPV looks good

I missed Impact this week. Seems like you're ****ed if you ever skip a show!

I remember the X-Scape match from last year actually, the birth of the MCMG in TNA. But the guys have to tag in and out? Surely there aren't any DQs in a cage match, so why should they obey those rules? I don't expect them to anyway

It normally breaks down. It was indeed the birth of the Guns.

Ok, I just looked through the TNA site a little more to see if I could find the rules for two of the matches because I was curious how exactly they worded it, and this is the closest I can find to any rules for the handcuff match:
    - A new bout has been added to Sunday’s Lockdown, called “Cuffed In The Cage” and featuring several TNA tag teams chained together in the steel structure. The participants in the bout are as follows:
    The Latin American Xchange
    The Motor City Machineguns
    Scott Steiner and Petey Williams
    Eric Young & Kaz
    The Rock N’ Rave Infection
    Black Reign & Rellik

So are the teams are chained together at the start or did they change the rules since then? I'm just surprised at how hard it is to find out!

Looks like they'll be taping a show in the UK. Could be good

As someone who only ever watches the women's stuff on TNA, I'm looking forward to Lockdown. The last PPV to feature women wrestling was Survivor Series 2000, and I'm pretty sure that's the only time can remember three separate matches featuring women wrestling on PPV..

I'm sure the Booker & Sharmell vs. Roode & Peyton match will feature very little actual wrestling between the ladies, and will take on a more brawling approach. Which I'm fine with as both ladies excel more at brawling then actual wrestling. I'm just happy to see Sharmell involved, as she's a great all around performer. Peyton, I've never been too high on, but with the right opponent to guide her, she can do well.

I'm expecting great things from Kong & Saeed vs. Gail & ODB. I do hope they're going to let Saeed actually wrestling rather then go the route of making it a glorified handicap match with Kong against Gail & ODB, with Saeed having only a minimal role in the match. As a wrestler Saeed is above ODB, and on the same level as Kong & Gail. In the opinion of some she's even above Kong & Gail, that's how good she is. I can't wait to see what happens in this one.

The Queen of the cage match will be interesting. As only half of the participants are actually good workers..the first part of this match has the potential to be huge cluster****. Hopefully they'll keep the brawling outside the cage match short and sweet. I'm hoping we'll end up with Angelina & Roxxi inside the cage. Aside from the fact that they're my two favorite workers in the match, and Roxxi has simply the best finisher I've seen from any female worker (the Voodo Drop), it would be a logical continuation of the Love/Sky vs. Roxxi feud.

Also, I'm assuming that the winner of this match is in for a future title shot against Kong. I see the "Queen of the Cage" title as being somewhat like the MITB winner getting a title shot, and I hope that's what we'll see. I've been dying to see a Kong vs. Roxxi match judging by how good their work in Shimmer was.

I have to applaud TNA on the great job it's done with it's women's division. While certain other promotions throw it's least talented performers in prominent PPV matches, while it's stronger workers sit on the sidelines, TNA seems to have found the perfect balance with it's female talent. The superior wrestlers, (Kong, Gail, Roxxi, Angelina, ODB etc..) get featured prominently in matches and title feuds. While the girls with the weaker in ring skills (Velvet, Salinas, Hemme, Rhaka) valet, and are featured in backstage promos, with a just a little in ring action thrown in as well. We don't see Salinas in there attempting to have a competitive wrestling match with Gail, nor do we see the champion Kong not being featured on the show for weeks, taking a back seat to T & A, or having to compromise her credibility by putting lesser talent over. TNA rocks.

I think the idea of this PPV is very stupid like having more gimmick matches inside a gimmick match. Having an entire PPV inside a cage just devaules the cage match.

I thought having 2 chamber matched at this years No Way Out was also bad

From looking at the feedback on the Wrestling Observer site this show got very mixed reactions. I'm somewhere in the middle

There was some really bad stuff. The handcuff cage match for one. Just really horrible until Super Eric came down. I don't really enjoy Super Eric though. The queen of the cage match wasn't any good either

Some of the really good stuff was the Lethal Lockdown match (easily the best of its kind they've had), the women's tag match (apart from Raisha's gear hampering her a bit) and the X-Scape match and the Booker/Roode tag match which were pretty decent

The main event though...this is what is getting the most mixed reactions it seems. Angle was in MMA gear, Joe just look like he always does. They tried doing worked MMA for the first few minutes and I think it failed completely. I had to look at it from an MMA perspective because I found it boring from a wrestling perspective. So Joe's kicks looked so awkward, he had a non-existent sprawl and his guard defence was terrible. So that MMA training was pointless! Everything they did on the ground ended real quick too because of ropebreaks, and that just broke up the flow of the match. Like watching a really bad UWFi match

When they were working a figure-four leglock spot they were losing the crowd, but then they started working a pro wrestling match and it got really good. I enjoyed this part of the match a lot. So Joe should obviously stick with the pro wrestling style, it's what he beat the champ with

Two other really good things about this match were the buildup during the show and Frank Trigg's commentary. Trigg was being a heel and he knows how to talk and it was really fun listening to him after Tenay and West's nonstop shouting all night, which included a few moves being miscalled. Although I did have them turned down for most of the show

I just watched the main event. Here would be a few of my random thoughts about it:

    - I really enjoyed the Angle/Joe match. There were things I didn't like about it which I'll get to later but on the whole I enjoyed it. Credit to TNA and to both guys for trying something different.

    - The build up was great. The little things they did before the match made it feel important which is what it's all about.

    - Frank Trigg was great. I don't think they should take him on full time. though I think they should save him for special matches. In saying that, Don West needs to be replaced by somebody.

    - The only problem that I had with the match was the amount of rope breaks. It just broke the flow of the match up for me.

    - Loved the rear naked choke spot at the end.

It'll be interesting to whether this is the start of this old/new style becoming increasingly popular or whether it was a 1 night thing.

I agree with Lita Forever. The TNA womens division is very good!! There is a nice balance between the competitive wrestlers and the valets/occassional wrestlers. There have been some excellent matches in the past and I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store!!
WWE should take a look at how they run the womens division and learn a thing or two.

Overall it was a good ppv.

I didn't know what to expect in the buildup to the ppv and even moreso when I saw angle coming to the ring in MMA shorts and his feet wrapped. The Angle vs Joe match was quite good as it went on.At the beginning it was kind of clear that Joe wasn't too comfortable but as the match moved on from MMA to wrestling,it got better.Judging by the crowd response,I don't think they knew how to take the MMA part of it.
Also,I think TNA did a good job hyping up this match even though all the "training" that both men were doing didn't seem to do anything on the MMA side of things.

Lethal lockdown and the X-division match were fairly goodAlthough,I expected Sanjay to last a bit longer in the X division match.

I didn't really enjoy the handcuff match. It started off well but as soon as they started to get handcuffed to the cage, I lost interest. There were suddenly something like 5/6 guys handcuffed to the cage, and they were making it seem like they were still involved in the match by trying to kick and punch the remain competitors.Maybe it would have worked if their were few participants but to me it just seemed like a bad concept.

In future I think that TNA should also try and explain the match rules a little better.I found that alot of fans didn't know, for example, what the rules to the handcuff match were supposed to be until they saw the match.Even Brian alvarez needed guests to explain the rules of the handcuff and womens match

    Impact
I have no idea why they keep doing this, but the tag titles and X-Division title changed hands on the tapings last night. Apparently the Feast or Fired briefcase is now a MITB briefcase, as Petey Williiams just used it after Lethal had won a match

And Super Eric and Kaz won the tag titles, but it was scheduled to be Eric Young, not
Super Eric in the match, and since Super Eric denies knowing who Eric Young is they got stripped of the titles. So either Eric has severe multiple personality disorder or he's just stupid

I just realised that no heels won on the PPV. Bit strange. And the no.1 contender for the TNA title was the first man eliminated in the handcuff match

I watched the Angle/Joe match last night and I enjoyed it but I think people went a bit overboard with the hype about it. It was good considering they were trying something different, and the crowd got into it, but don't go into the match thinking you're about to see an epic match which is what I did and I felt a bit disappointed over it because of that.

That's pretty much how I feel about it. But it's when you've got people going crazy about it (Bryan Alvarez rated the match higher than any match last year, I usually at least agree with his take on matches) that I get confused. It was good when they were doing wrestling, just stick to that

Maybe a lot of people went into it with low expectations and it resulted in them having the opposite reaction to us. :D

I don't know, the build up to the match was the best TNA had done since the last Joe/Angle match where they had the "Road To Victory" show or something like that

Gotta give props to the main event, twas a great match. But TNA went back to their old ways on iPMACT!, at least Cornette finally apologised for all the idiocy on iPMACT, lol!
