Train to Connolly, Dart to Shankill, there's a free shuttle bus from there to Cherrywood.

You should check the times of the shuttle with your employer though, it's not very frequent (maybe every half hour).

There is a bus from the city centre that'd leave you close to the estate (could be the #7, not sure).

Its about a two hour commute also using public transport.
Should be able to do it in under an hour using the M50 and a bike or car though.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

Dublin Bus route 7 is not the best way to get to Cherrywood if you're looking to save some time. The 46C is much more direct, or the higher frequency 145 will drop you nearby.

You could also get the 7 from Blackrock or Dun Laoighaire Dart stations.

And as said above, the 145, 46c, 84, 45(takes longer), go past the estate on the way from town. The 46C being a 1 minute walk from the stop, and the other three being less than a 5 minute walk from the stop. In a couple years time the Luas will be nearby. There's also apartments on the doorstep, just put in Cabinteely in daft.ie and look for places in: Gleann Na Ri, Tullyvale or The Ramparts.

To stay sane, you're going to need a car or move closer.
