People with earphones in public places...

A lot of people wearing headphones/earphones in public (e.g. web cafés, public transport) sing, laugh, talk, eat, breathe etc really loudly and it can be very irritating if you're sitting near them. Of course the reason why they do it is because the music drowns them out so they either want to hear themselves or they plain don't think about it. But that's kinda dumb - surely if a person has sense they'd realise that it may not be loud to them, but it's obviously going to be to those nearby.

Just having a rant because I have to do some stuff in a web café and there's a guy sitting next to me with headphones on and chewing gum like a pig and he's being really distracting so I've decided to go on Boards. Again.

Why don't you stick on your head phones? Then he's drowned out and you're happy.

I feel your pain, sorta. I had an exam on Wednesday and just happened to be sitting in front of this guy who was the loudest breather I've ever heard. So much so that several times I had to check to make sure that he hadn't actually fallen asleep!

Yeah.. but the only album she has on her is that experimental one with the sounds of people chewing.

:) Ah I'm happy as a clam. I'm just giving this as an example of irritating habits if anyone wants to post same.

Annoying habits hhmmm. One of my colleague comes over to look at some work, stands behind me clicking his tongue off his cheek with hands on hips, sighing loudly.

Hes only 5'3 though, so just an angry wee man.

    Annoying though nonetheless.

Put your hand on his crotch, that should at least get the earphones off.

    :(

I wear headphones...though I dont talk while I wear them. I wear really big ones to keep my ears warm as I make the morning walk across town for the bus. I sometimes forget to take them off when I am at home cause I'm keyed into my sonic the hedgehog remix

irritating habits...Cant really say, I have far too many of my own that I'd feel like a hyprocrite if I started naming them and besides I have a habit of being very blunt about things I notice habit wise.

Nothing wrong with wearing earphones or playing music loudly if you like your music loud. It's more the singing loudly in order to hear yourself and being oblivious to the fact that other people are around you.

If only everyone wore earphones the world would be a better place!

Actually, a few of the lads in work wear earphones througout the day which I find...strange.

Actually... when I wear earphones in public I get very aware of my breathing and other noises. Sometimes I stop breathing in case I get carried away at times :P.

I like to wear earphones and listen to music on the bus. Don't blame me if its too loud, blame the gimps down the back playing their ****ty music from their ****ty phones speaker.

Grrr.... its not even dance music. Its like some sort of horrible noise sped up with a synthesized voice. The worse is when they start singing and replace some of the lines with drug references to be mad in front of their mates.

No... to be "Schmad" in front of their mates.

    True, you can't spell non-violence without v i o l e n c e :D

I've even seen people having conversations with other people when they have earphones in, now they're not shouting but if I was having a conversation with someone and they didn't even have the courtesy to take their earphones out ....

Most anoyin time was some woman who's always in [cracker, but always has a moody head on her]
I asked her did she want a bag, and she just ingored me, so I told her the total, and she took out an earphone and said, with the biggest attitude ever "Eh... I asked you for a bag"

Why yes, yes i am. That's the only logical conclusion to why someone wouldnt want to hear the tinny sound of james hetfield tuneless croak going "yeah" every five f**king seconds. I have all metallicas pre 91 albums on me own mp3 player so if, on some rare occasion, i want to listen to them i'll do so at my own descretion.
(yes, im looking at you, the DCU student on the 4a who looks like shaggy outta scooby doo and wears a pair of skull candy cans around your neck while your player shuffles between ..and justice for all and f****in use your illusions, you bleedin twat. )

It wouldn't bother me if they weren't TONE DEAF AND SINGING OUT OF TUNE:mad:

Same with a guy in work who whistles along to whatever song is on the radio only without realising he can only reproduce three notes at the most and it just grates on everyone.

At least nowadays most of them have the in-ear things and you don't have to listen to tzzz tzzz tzzz t t tzzz tzzz on the bus.

I wear my headphones whenever I walk anywhere or use public transport and if I could get away with it at work, I'd be listening to my mp3 player there too. I am not apologising for being in love with my music and hating the angry sounds of the outside world. Now if I'm going to converse with anyone, be they in a shop or anywhere else I always remove the headphones cos thats just plain ignorance tbh.

ok, as being in public is usually my only time to zone out and listen to my music properly, im guilty of contantly having my earphones in, but i do make a concentrated effort to never sing along while doing so. however... tapping on myself, i am guilty of... and what about dancing, dudess?

are jerky arm movements, skips, and general looking happier than the rest of you dancing down the street allowed?
