amp with a German plug? Buzzing?

Hey, has anyone had any experience of getting an amp from the like of Thomann?

I got a cube 60 which has a Euro 2 pin plug. I have a little converter for this plug and it's grand, sounds quite good etc except there is a crackling buzz coming from the amp which only stops when I touch the metal on the bridge of the guitar.

I've tried this with a bunch of guitar that don't usually buzz, they have good wiring and produce no noise with my other amps.

Is there some sort of earthing issue because of the euro plug? Unfortunately it doesn't use a kettle lead so I would have to remove the 2 pin and replace with a 3 pin plug but then I don't know if the wiring matches up etc.

Anyone got any ideas? I could have just bought a dud amp but it'd cost about 70 quid to ship back to thomann so doping that is not the case.

The buzz is coming from the plug converter thingy. I've encountered this one before. Easy enough to remedy, just cut off the old plug and wire on a new 3 pin plug. Is fairly straight forward, just like wiring a plug. If you're unsure about what the wires are just look around on line for info on wiring a plug.

yep, just replace it with yer standard 3 pin plug. Shouldn't be much hassle.

European plugs earth via a pin in the socket. Most converters are only rated for low current non-earthing applicances and are not suitable for guitar amps. Wiring a plug is pretty easy, so replace it before using the amp again. Brown is live (L), blue is neutral (N), and the yellow and green is the ground/earth (E).

An improperly earthed guitar amp is unsafe.

Ah that's great, wasn't certain if I would be able to just wire a standard plug. Cool, thanks guys.

I'm delighted with the amp other than this buzzing, haven't had a solid state amp in a long time but loving this one so this is great news.
