How reliable are refurbished HDDs?

I need to replace a degraded drive in a RAID 5 system. The drives are no longer manufactured. The only one I can get is a refurbished drive from a UK company. They say they are "tested to manufacturer's standard" and come with a 90 day warranty. This is gong into our PDC and I don't want it failing again in a few months. Anyone ever used one a refurbished drive before?

no .. I'm trying to imagine how a HDD can be refurbished with tolerances the way they are .. are you sure they are not just second hand , formatted and then tested?

I've bought a few from Komplett over the years and never had a problem with them. They were refurbed by the manufacturer and even had a new sticker stating they were refurbed. As long as they're done by the manufacturer they should be fine but I wouldn't use them for anything critical.
