UPC DVR just programmed my TV!!

This is a bit of a new feature, the UPC DVR box suddenly did a 'smart link' update of the programmes on my Sony TV.

i.e. the TV retuned itself to a standard UPC channel line up, complete with channel names typed in.

I didn't realise the box could do that! It did it the first time the box was powered up after the new EPG software with the UPC flower logo appeared.

That's pretty cool I didn't know it could do that

When you say "power up" do you mean from cold, i.e. no power, or out of standby via the remote?

I know my Philips Tv has something called Easylink which I believe is the same thing, but as I understand it it works the other way, i.e. it will program an attached VCR or DVD recorder to the same channel line-up as the TV, not the other way around. Certainly nothing has changed on my TV since the upgrade.

    Powered up from cold.

The TV displayed a prompt asking if I would like to accept the settings!

There was absolutely nothing else connected to the TV other than the UPC mediabox by scart.

I may well go home and play with that.

Fancy, I've done it with VCR's before but have never seen a STB doing it.
