If you're building a guitar i'd say the neck is where you should spend most money. It's all about how it plays! I wouldn't go for a sub €80 neck tbh.

oops too late, ordered one from jcguitars i think its called, 73 euro including shipping! so ill update when i get it! hope for the best, plus it can always be sold and replaced!

the headstock is totally blank though, no fender sign or anything so is there anywhere that can make custom logos?

You can by those on Evilbay too. Just search for Fender decal. ;)

If it's a custom build, leave the headstock blank, or paint on a logo or something. No point in slapping 'Fender' on a guitar you built yourself.

I'd be a little concerned about a cheap-assed neck too.

Try this place for the decal.

i'm disturbed that you'd be willing to pay less than 80 for a neck.

you need to double that, easily, you're gonna regret buying a cheapo neck.

a good place to check out for guitar necks/bodies is musikraft.com . warmoth is good, but overpriced. allparts doesnt have as much selection. musikraft lets you choose *all* aspects of the neck/body and doesnt charge you the GNP of a small country for it.

 The most basic maple/rosewood satin Strat neck from Musikraft comes to $275, while Warmoth is $222. Both before shipping.

I have a few Mighty Mite necks and I like them. They're pretty cheap, they feel good and haven't had any problems with them. :)

In a bolt-on design, a body could arguably just be a chunk of wood. But a neck is not just a couple of pieces of wood in the shape of a neck.

How it's constructed and the quality and cut of the wood will dictate how well it feels to play, how well it can be intonated, how well it carries vibrations and sustain, and how susceptible it is to warping. Depending on ones personal standards or tastes, one might argue that for 80 euros you could barely buy the maple to make a decent neck, let alone pay for the crafting.

I doubt you could in Ireland, at least if you did there would be no profit at €80. The guitar neck he bought is a Mighty Mite, that's all that JC's sells. It's made in Korea using Canadian wood (afaik?) :)

We are the LARGEST MIGHTY MITE dealer there is. No one stocks more necks or bodies then us. We have worked very closely with might mite designing new products as well as creating custom order necks and bodies. Honestly, you will not find any one who cares about the Mighty Mite brand more then the owner of JC's Guitars & Lessons, except for the owners and employees of Mighty Mite themselves. Each neck is hand inspected for wood flaws, twist, and fret issues. I personally go over each fret end to make sure they are nipped and filed. My compactors don't even open the boxes let alone do fret work to their necks. The difference is in the care and the attention to details.

this is a quote direct from the add i bought from, doesnt say where they get the wood from though!

So now the question is how good is that wood i suppose?? whats the difference?!? hmmm......

so all i can come up with is>
    Hard Maple (Acer saccharum):

This is the most traditional Fender neck wood. Dense, hard and strong, offering great sustain and stability. The tone is bright. Maple must be finished to protect from warping. The figure varies greatly and does at times contain some Birdseye. Most often flatsawn with quartersawn available as an option.

has anyone had any bad experiences with warmoth or JCguitars necks??

You could have issues with any neck.
I have two Mighty Mite bass necks and no issues with them yet. They seem pretty solid.

Basically they send good wood over to Korea and the necks are made there due to cheaper labour costs. So thats where the saving is coming in. They also have a thin satin poly finish.
