This is my last resort guys im nearly fit to throw my computer out the window. i have o2 broadband the E270 model and i am using it with mac osx 10.4. the problem that i am having is that the coverge is great 5 bars but i have my download speed jumping from 22kps to 11kps all the time. every now and again i might get a slight peak but thats its.. i have gotten O2 to look into it today and they are sending their radio ops out to have a look at it but outside of that could it be an operating system problem?

this might be a dumb question but it's not 5 bars -of GPRS or rather EDGE with o2 isn't it?- anyway 5 bars of the "fall back" signal rather than the 3g signal? I only ask because I think the EDGE speed is something like 220K connection which would be about 22KB download speed.

Full 3G signal or full HSPDA signal? Assuming O2 haven't upgraded all their transmitters from 3G (384k) to HSPDA (3.6meg), you might be on a normal 3G transmitter. It would mean your theoretical max would be 384k or 40KB (around there) a second download. If you are on a HSPDA you could just be on a pretty congested transmitter. Either way there is sweet F.A. you could do about it

don't know if you tried it yet.. but try choosing 3g only in the options for the card/modem.. it may be set on 3g preferred and not 3g only

ya its full HSDPA signal, i live about 500yds away from a mast which was one of the first upgraded. and i do have 3G only selected but only how it lets you do it on a Mac. last night after 12 i had 900Kbs but this morning same old story it keeps jumping from 22kbs to 11kbs. oh well id say im screwed whatever i do now
